Title: Man Arested For Taking Biden's Advice
Post by Midnightrider on 07/21/13 at 13:36:29

to
http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/articles/2013/6/man-claiming-he-took-bidens-advice-charged-with-illegally-firing-gun.aspx
Back in February, we reported on Vice President Joe Biden's ill-advised "advice" that those who have to protect their homes and families from intruders should just walk outside and fire "two blasts" from a double-barreled shotgun.

At the time, a FoxNews.com article reported that Biden claims to keep two shotguns locked up at his home, and that he has told his wife, Jill, to use them if she needs protection:  "Jill, if there's ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony ... take that double-barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house."

As we noted then, Biden's advice would be illegal in most situations and dangerous both for the potential victim, and for the general public.  And, we were right.

This week, a Yahoo.com article reported that when a Washington state man was charged with illegally firing a shotgun into the air in an attempt to chase away people he thought were breaking into his vehicles, he blamed his action on Biden's bad advice.

"I did what Joe Biden told me to do," Jeffrey Barton told Washington affiliate KOIN. "I went outside and fired my shotgun in the air."

Barton subsequently pleaded not guilty to one count of illegal aiming or discharging a firearm.

So much for taking Biden's bad advice.  To see NRA-ILA's video responses to Biden's "advice" on self defense, please click here and here.

Agree, if you act on the advice of an idiot then you should be treated like an idiot. As the great Obiwan Kenobe once said  ;) "Who is the more fooloish, the fool, or the one who follows him?"

As usual incomplete and totally lacking context ...

KOIN.com reports that 52-year-old Vancouver resident Jeffery Barton pleaded not guilty Wednesday to one count of illegal aiming or discharging a firearm.

Barton reportedly told deputies that he fired his shotgun while chasing away people he suspected to be breaking into his vehicles. Deputies have said there was no evidence of prowlers on his property, according to the report.

First off ... he was in no danger ... he was in the house and they were near his cars, then ... he was chasing them, and I dont see where it says he fired in the air ... I looked in faux news -

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/07/18/washington-state-man-accused-illegally-firing-shotgun-cites-bidens-advice/

He could have called the cops and pulled a Zimmerman ...

And well, a shot gun for warning can be loaded with 1-2 blanks ... just makes a nice boom ... since you'd have to re-load it anyway, the warning shot is purely for warning ...

I guess after they break into his cars and steal it, they were going to come for him, and here he needs to stand your ground so he chased them and shot @ them ... much like the classic SYG of Zimmy. Since he didn't kill them, he should be tossed in jail.

Cool.

Okay, it's been a couple years since I lived there but... WA is a range law state. You have the right to pop a round, at anyone, for any reason, on your property... unless you live in the city or incorporated county limits. Or the trespasser is serving a federal warrant with a US Marshall present.

So he broke a chicken sh!t city or county ordinance.

West side of the state, law enforcement ignores the range law in the Puget Sound Basin counties and down near Portland Ore (Vancouver is a suburb of Portland, better known as Porn Land, more strip clubs in Portland than in all of MS, TN, AL combined)...

So much for staying out of the TT area.

Please show anywhere SYG was mentioned in the trial or stop lying about it, IIRC, the defense was pure & simple self defense, No SYG involved.
You continue to destroy what TINY amount of credibility you have by continuing down this path of not accepting the facts. YOu want it to be the cops hid evidence & thers no even tiny amount of anything to indicate they did, You SO desperately want Zimmerman to be wrong you wont accept that that dumbass kid decided to Whoop some Queer ass & he got KILLED for it,,

In which trial JOG ? This one in Vancouver or the Zimmy ?

Really, 90 % of the TT assumes I have no credibility anyway just because of my stand on issues and the fact I voted for Obama ...
So I am not really bothered by that ... you should know that by now ... Your prejudices are not my problem. In fact your Post-judices aren't my problem either.

SYG was never even mentioned

Zimmy and Michael Dunn (who shot a black kid @ a gas station and went back to his house and wasn't arrested immediately either) both of them invoked SYG to get out of jail right @ the time of the shooting.

Michael Dunn is here:
(CNN) -- A Florida man charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a teenager amid an argument over loud music at a gas station pleaded not guilty Monday.

Michael Dunn, 45, entered his plea during a hearing Monday morning at the Duval County, Florida, jail.

Dunn told investigators he fired at a car in which Jordan Davis, 17, and three of his friends were sitting because he felt threatened by them. No guns were found inside the teens' car, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

The case against Dunn, who has been jailed without bond since the November 26 shooting at the Jacksonville, Florida, gas station, has been compared to the "stand your ground" case in which George Zimmerman is charged with killing Trayvon Martin.

Here is Zimmy's ...

It’s been just over a year since Sanford, Fla., neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman shot and killed teenager Trayvon Martin, and the case remains as divisive and confounding as ever. Zimmerman claimed that he only fired after Martin initiated a physical confrontation. Early on, he avoided arrest thanks to Florida’s “stand your ground” law, which requires police to show probable cause that a suspect used unlawful force. Here’s the relevant part of Florida’s statute:

A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.(Emphasis is ours.)

Stand your ground didn’t protect Zimmerman forever: He was ultimately arrested and charged with second-degree murder after a special prosecutor was appointed to oversee the case. Zimmerman’s defense team has also indicated recently that it’s unlikely he’ll rely on a stand-your-ground defense at trial. Even so, the controversial law has continued to be a lightning rod, leading Florida Gov. Rick Scott to convene a bipartisan, multi-racial task force to study the legislation.

http://www.slate.com/blogs/crime/2013/03/01/trayvon_martin_george_zimmerman_stand_your_ground_is_a_terrible_law_why.html

You can look for what suits your political slant ... this news is so old, I cant find any better than slate right now.

Yup he wasn't gonna be there, right after the cops threw away whatever they had collected, turns out he was SYG ... so they let him go after a statement ... so no, not supposed to be there.
