Title: 1986 ignitor and plug Post by Garrett on 07/11/13 at 19:39:25 alright, so this whole thing started when i bought a 1986 suzuki savage. and got it running.. i am redoing the wiring harness because of so many shorts and breaks in the wires... well i noticed the plug for the ignitor has wires stripped out of it. so i ordered a plug to fix the wires and put it back together. got the plug today and saw that it doesnt fit.. the ignitor says "mitsubishi" on it.. and now the plastic clip for the ignitor broke. so. i have no plug and no ignitor. what ignitors will work with our bikes? because obviously mitsubishi's do.. i am going to go to the junk yard saturday, i just need to find something that would work.

What I know... 3 yellow wires from the stator,... don't matter which is which, go to the rectifier... 2 other wires come up from the the left side case are pick-up for the ignition trigger... they go to a separate connector to trigger spark... Sucky info,... I know... Someone with an 80's model will chime in shortly... I love to be corrected....   ,,, correctly... :-?... Screw the connector... and just use single, bullet connectors to hook up what to what... If you keep the bike long enough,... it'll end up that way anyway... ;D...

Title: Re: 1986 ignitor and plug Post by rfbznb on 07/12/13 at 08:18:11 the only ones that will work for a 1986 are ones from 1986 to 1995. and all the ignitors are made by Mitsubishi for the savage. I hope that helps. I have a 1986 oem ignitor  and wiring harness for sale if you like PM me.
