Title: I have to laugh at myself. Post by Toroso on 07/08/13 at 16:09:21 I'm in no way an experienced rider. This is my first bike. I took the Rider's Edge course at a local HD and aced it. I don't have insurance on the bike yet so I am doing a little practice in the drive. It's a long windy uphill drive. Anyway I was turning around got distracted by something and rolled backwards into the ditch and got stuck! darn! Just darn! Took me a while to get out but I did. |

I'm 54 and sitting here in a back brace because I fractured my L-3 in my lower spine trying to pick up my wifes bike up in North Carolina. It was loaded up with all my gear to boot....tipped it over pulling in to a parking lot and skinned my knee, gas started coming out of the cap and running down, I thought maybe it would start a fire so I jerked it up and POP! And that was on june the 12th...i'm still regretting not waiting for someone to help, a fella showed up like 1 and a half minutes.... I should have waited. >:( |

Title: Re: I have to laugh at myself. Post by justin_o_guy2 on 07/09/13 at 19:28:34 i got distracted, 1st gear, idling along, watching linemen, trucks, etc,, realized i was off course, option 1, major correction, just leaving asphalt onto gravel & grass,, no thanks,, option 2 stay on course, roll down into a narrow ditch that didnt look like i could get out of. looked better than a fall & probable slide into said ditch the last guy i passed helped me out,, |
Title: Re: I have to laugh at myself. Post by Dave on 07/10/13 at 14:13:49 Before I had my Savage I had a Kawasaki 250 Dual Sport and my Sherco 320 trials bike that I still have. For some weird reason trials bikes have the kicktand on the right side swingarm. I was in the garage doing something and I moved the Kawasaki.....but in doing so I bumped the Trials bike and it started to tip over away from me.....and so did the Kawasaki - but in the other direction! I made a quick grab for the Kawasaki and got the left handlebar grip in my right hand as it fell away from me...and in a desperate grab I got the tip of the thin plastic rear fender of the Trials bike in my fingetips. We all 3 stood there in a bit of frozen time......none of us were moving anywhere! It took all my strength to hold on to the Kawasaki vigorously with my right hand as I delicately coaxed the thin plastic trilals bike fender to stand that bike back up and get it back on the off-side kickstand. With that issue solved I could get more aggressive in pulling the Kawaski upright.....WOW.....nothing broken, scratched or dropped! It sure was close. |
Title: Re: I have to laugh at myself. Post by justin_o_guy2 on 07/10/13 at 16:43:15 why am i expected to laff at myself, but only laff WITH you? i think id rather laff at someone else, & not at me,, sadly, i do too much stuff thats funny. i was trying to straighten a dented down "rib" on a p/u truck cowl vent. elbows on fender, dent puller hook locked in hands, hooked under, lifting, lifting,, shazaam! it let go & i slammed the end of the handle between my eyes, sending me reeling backwards across an empty bay,, looked around,, no one! not one witness!,, so,, i went & told them,, it was too funny to not share. |
