Title: Heat Wave
Post by mpescatori on 06/29/13 at 11:26:13

Hear there's a heat wave in the MidWest.

Holidaymakers in Las Vegas driving to Death Valley because "it's 130°F out there and I want to say I been there!"

It was 122 or maybe 123°F back in 2008, this week exactly, and it was sooo hot my wife's gold mesh necklace warped with the heat&cool of walinkg about and getting back in the car...

So... you Scottsdale - Phoenix Savages, you ...

How hot is it... ... ...egg-zactly ?

...but it's dry heat...
...in a dry heat, you learn to open doors and steer with only your fingertips...

It's been over 100' every day of June... 110' to 113' this weekend...

It's hotter than Kardashian underwear...
:-?...

I remember a few years ago we had a heat wave in Rome, temperatures in the low 30s°C at night and mid 40s°C during the day.

I remember because I was CO of an Officer Cadet Coy and we had to rehearse for the swearing-in cerimony, Summer  1989
and the Honor Guard at the President's Palace that same weekend.

Anyway, it was sooo hot our boots would literally glue themselves in the hot tarmac and my motircycle center stand would sink...
I would find the bike sitting "on all fours" at the end of the day...  :o

Sounds like you could have used a good puck.  Serowbot lives in Tucson (otherwise known as Hades.)  He has found the perfect tarmac beater for his bike.

OMG, how do you guys stand that kind of heat?? Here in Michigan on the shores of beautiful Lake Huron it is COOL with a crisp breeze coming in off the lake right now. We went to a Dairy Queen after dinner for a cone and had to wear jackets. 58 degrees. In fact it's still long sleeve weather here with a jacket at night. Riding with full leathers & gloves.

BTW it's VERY cold here in the winter....but it's a dry cold. ;)

My wife and I were in Glennville, West Virginia last weekend.  It was cool in the evening but pretty hot during the daytime.  For this festival they have a dance floor made out of plywood in the center of town.  They had a black tarp on the dance floor in case it rained, and we took a Buck Dance workshop in the afternoon.  It was hot and sunny for the workshop and we pulled the black tarp off the plywood and started our lesson.  My wife commented her feet were hot, and about halfway through the workshop the leather soles of here shoes came off.  The plywood was so hot that it melted the glue that attached the soles of her shoes!

That's why in the South, leather shoes MUST have a Goodyear welt sole. Glue just lets go. As do cheap imported shoes regardless of the construction method.

It's hot enough here that the day sailer deck is delaminating...
