A '99 books at about $1300. Guess he thinks his mods quadruple the book value. He is asking just about MSRP for a new one.

I don't think you can get 45 hp out of a stock setup.

maybe with one of lancers high lift cams, a bore job and a high compression piston. then she be cookin'

Exactly.... and 100mph... not likely, he's still running the stock belt drive, which means no gear change.

It is possible to get up next to 100 on a stock engined bike. On a few occasions my '09 S40 has gone past 100 indicated on level road. I think it may have just come out of the factory with an engine in near blueprint spec. condition. When able I intend to have it dyno'd to see what the numbers are and if that accounts for the way it runs. Just curious.

I sent the dude who put up the CL ad and asked what mod's had been done to the engine to get 45 hp at the rear wheel because no stock LS650 I've heard of with filter/exhaust changes has ever dyno'd more than 31-33 hp.

Don't people realize that deviating from stock negatively affects the resale value? Cut the blue book price by 50%, and expect to take a couple hundred under that...

That said, mine would require a frame swap to go back to stock... ;D

It's been adjusted to read only 35 HP.

Still love to know what makes it as expensive as new.

Well I might believe 35 - but not without a Wiseco, cam, exhaust and filter changes.
