Title: Bike for sale on EBAY....Bizarre
Post by ToesNose on 06/24/13 at 04:04:39

I came across this from a RYCA link on FaceBook, someone put a TON of time into building it......time and money they will never get back LOL. IMHO sometimes you shouldn't climb that mountain just because you can.

Wow, that looks like an exercise in doing something just to see if it can be done.

I am sure there is some cool engineering there... but ok, form following function without any eye to aesthetics.. not for me.

What, you got something against laminated bamboo front fenders?   :)

Looks like he took anything he could find in the garage and built up something with a motor and two wheels.

As much as I love the Constitution some times people should not have the right to express themselves.

That is absollutely obscene, a waste of time and money, and serves  no purpose whatsoever.  It is not art, it is not tranportation, and it not even worth buying for parts.

Even worse it says those are steamed bent wood......such a waste of time and resources that could have gone to a cool bike build   :-?

People do their own thing, but if you want a hand gear change, buy a vintage bike.

Obviously it  was not meant to be ridden.  First.....there is the seat issue.  And with one hand on the clutch, the other hand tryig to figure out how to got between the throttle and shifter......you got nothing availble to wave at other bikers with!

Yeah, old riding buddy of mine had an old Harley with a foot clutch, hand shift and no front brake. He said it got real interesting stopped  on a hill. You had one foot on the clutch, one foot on the rear brake and one foot on the ground. :-?

That is an omega frame isn't it - let me look.
Cool.

Epic fail - that fool should have studied the weatheing properties of cast impure aluminum and powdercoating ...

You see those wrinkles on the upper handlebar clamp ...

Yes, cast pot metal doesn't react that perfectly to being heated when powdercoating. Its structurally OK, but looks stupid, and will slough off in time.

Cool.
Srinath.

Ok....I can laff just as much as the next guy, BUTT, when you start to cut a lil' to close to the bone, I gotta chime in.

What you say in de heil are you talk'n bout?

Fine, I'll just come right out and say it and let the chips fall where they may....

As one of the older riders/member of this forum (yet not nearly as ancient as oldfeller) I must say I take offense to your last line of your observation....
You see, because of those advancing years and diminished brain cell activity/recall, etc, I have found myself, on occasion, too, that indeed those skid marks have grown beyond an identifying mark at the laundromat to a point of, well ... I have set on my stool too.

I'm not trying to cause a stink you unnertand, just trying to call your attention to a fact of life where you might find you're making a mess yourself, and will need help cleaning it up, well, perhaps, it all depends.....

As you were.

So, the consensus here would be...this should NOT be a Ryca kit?

Well if you want to offer a kit for all tastes........it looks like at least one person wanted this bike.  (Well he may have changed his mind.....the bike is for sale!).
