Title: Almost stalling
Post by Tiktok423 on 06/22/13 at 14:03:46

Hey Guys just wondering, when I'm in the low gears and throttle is at about a 1/4 my bike while cruising in this low speed almost feels like its going to stall every now and then? It's feels like a slight pull back of power for a second then power kicks back in again. To me it feels like a stall. Is this a sign of something sinister going on? I also have a few pops or 2 and usually always when decelerating to change gears? Any ideas?

Cheers

check your electrical connections and your kickstand.

if it's bouncing, it may activate the safety.

check the pressure on the clutch safety return spring .  If your going thru the gears , or using the clutch a lot , the spring might be weak

Mine does kinda the same thing. she dont like putting round at 1/4 throttle. Verslagen1's got a point, there is some hokey little safety thing on the kickstand assembly. i just rip that nonsense right out.

Do you mean it feels like a lean surge?  Have you done the white spacer modification?

I have ridden a couple of bikes that had a lean hesitation at abot 1/4 throttle.  This may be what you are experiencing.  Next time you feel the hesitaton open the throttle up a bit more.....and if the hesitation goes away it is probably carb related....and not ignition.

For me the solution was jet changes and the modicitation to the white spacer on the carb needle.  I ended up with a 150 main jet, 50 pilot jet and 2 washers on top of the needle insead of the 3 that are normally used.
