Title: Electric hickup & Possible bad clutch Post by Boogieman on 06/20/13 at 11:20:30 Okay So thers a few really strange things happening. First my regulator took a dump. Versy Is letting me borrow one of his outta an '87 i believe (Thanks for saving my tushy Vercy). my bike is a 2003. Anyway I'll be idling & everything will be fine but every minute or so the bike hickups (a real quick sputter like its going to die though it never does). Anyone have any idea what could cause this? Oh, And after versy and I wired in the regulator, We put a meter on the battery and Found that when we rev the engine There is a voltage drop, Instead of a rise in voltage like there should be. Now before you ask the stator seems to be doing its job. What the hell would cause this? Next And probably related to The other problems, The bike has a hard time starting out in first gear. It will hesitate and sputter a bit Until I get moving. Again, b4 you ask I know I have the correct pilot jet due to the proper ability to tune it at idle though I should probably dig back into the carb and do adjust the space mod. Next problm: when I'm jamming through the gears there's this thing where I release (or engage I forget which one is which) the clutch and give her throttle the engine RPM's rise but I'm not going any faster. then rpm slows and the bike speeds up. so I'm guessing my clutch is going bad. It feels like its slipping. so anyone know what's going on with this stuff? |

Title: Re: Electric hickup & Possible bad clutch Post by Boogieman on 06/20/13 at 20:55:31 I don't have a speedometer, odometer or techometer. as a guess I'd say 500 miles. last time the oil was changed was maybe 100miles ago with Versy & Dane. I believe we used Rotella T. before that I was running synthetic Suzuki motorcycle oil. there was a period of time, maybe 30 miles, where normal 10w40 was used to get me out of a bind. |

Title: Re: Electric hickup & Possible bad clutch Post by verslagen1 on 06/20/13 at 21:07:02 you got T6 remember, we deburred the ends of your clutch rod? said it might shorten your rod a bit. might need to make you a custom one. check the marks on the case, use your hand to pull up on the lever and see where the end is with regard to the marks. |

Title: Re: Electric hickup & Possible bad clutch Post by Boogieman on 06/20/13 at 21:25:41 oh yeah I do remember that¡ I had my girl pull in the clutch as I looked at the marks. without the clutch pulled in the bottom part of that lever lines up directly in between the two marks on the case. when she squeezed the clutch handle all the way to the grip, the bottom of that lever was above the higher of the two marks on the case. the distance in actuation of that lever appears to be the same distance as from the lower mark to the upper mark on the case. What does that mean? |

IOW, if the lever doesnt flop around a tiny bit, the cable is never really LOOSE, gotta let it go slack,, |

Title: Re: Electric hickup & Possible bad clutch Post by Boogieman on 06/21/13 at 11:28:48 here's a picture of the clutch (again, lever on handlebars) pulled in. there is absolutely no slack. just barely touching the lever on the handlebars will make the clutch lever down on the side move. |

I'm trying to set up a sandblaster in my shop so y'all can just give me parts, tanks, fenders, all kinds of stuff and I'll blast it and then either powder coat (i used to have a powder coat gun and spare oven, but that stuff is relatively cheap) or paint and clear using 2-part automotive clear-coat. I'm thinking i'll have all that stuff set up by next month. |
