Title: Fuel tank vent
Post by PhantomII on 06/17/13 at 06:40:06

Hi I'm Devin and I'm new to your site.  I just did the Raptor petcock mod on my '99 Savage and when I took it for a ride around the block the motor started acting like it was starving for fuel, when I pulled over and looked at the fuel filter I could see air bubbles and in order for me to get it started again I had to remove the fuel cap.  My question is when I rode dirt bikes there was a vent line attached to the fuel cap so fuel would flow, shouldn't there be some kind of vent for the Savage tank to do the samething?

The cap is vented internally... sounds like yours is blocked...
You can try soaking it,.. or blowing compressed air through it,... or take it apart and clean...
It does need to vent... ;)...

Had the same problem, was clogged, would die if given too much gas on highway. Soak in lacquer thinner did the trick.
