Stopped at the Lowes store in Muskogee and ran across a dude on this...

He bought a brand new '11 S40 and started the conversion as soon as he got it home.
Nicely done.
Very friendly guy; talked for a good bit before we all had to leave.

Nice looking conversion!  I don't think I could muster the nerve to do that with a brand new bike, though.  Good on him!

The cable driven speedo seems to be hooked up to a spindle on the front wheel...

The guy does not have a computer and does not want one.  He is retired and prefers the "Simple Life".
I told him about the site and he said he would go a friends house and take a look.
I have his name and he lives within 30 miles of my current location, so hopefully we can get together before long and ride a bit.
I have about got things settled enough to begin doing something besides moving, unpacking, sorting etc etc etc etc etc etc..........................makes me tired just thinking about it.

You can get RYCA parts at Lowe's?

Nice looking bike.....neat paint scheme.

I did spend a lot of time at a local hardware store for my conversion.  There is an ACE store in Florence that has a well stocked nuts/bolts department.  They have stainless metric that includes allen head, cheese head, pan head.....and even metric thread all connectors that I used when making the mounts for the side panels and brake light cable mount.

Lancer.....glad you are getting things resolved.  Soon you will be able to play motorcycles again.  Don't take a 35 year span without motorcycles like I did!

I think it is SHFD, an abbr. for Shefield England.
The dude developed his love for singles as a military brat living there years ago.

I have a sister-in-law living in Douglas and I went to school in Stillwater, but that has been a few moons ago.

Oh! I remember this guy:) His name is Bill. Yeah, he doesn't have a computer.

He has one of the VERY first Ryca kits produced... his tank should be stamped with a special mark. Bill would call us all the time for updates about his kit (this was during the first run, and things were crazy and behind schedule). He could talk all day about bikes....said he fell in love with thumpers in England when a guy on a BSA would pass him every day on his way to school. Great story. He requested his CS-1 seat un-upholstered so he could cover it in alligator skin!

I always wondered what happened with Bill and his CS-1 project. If you see him, tell him hi and we would love to share some photos of his bike, along with his story.

Yep, it's Bill.
Told me all about his non-computer ordering process; how you guys made hard copy of all the info and such and sent it to him.  Very cool Casey.  He has been very pleased with everything about the kit and the bike as a whole.
quite a chatty fellow.  :)))
I will be calling him to see if he wants to ride and will pass along your request for photos and story.
It was my impression that he likely rides most any time he can.  The bike is obviously used routinely...good condition but with road dirt. [/b]
