Title: One for those who gave.....
Post by raydawg on 05/26/13 at 22:16:44

I watched the sun set tonight ( I'm normally in bed by now ) reflecting on what this holiday means. Often we forget, getting caught up in the commercialization of it...... sad.
I set there w/ camera, hoping to get something to share in a worthy manner. I hope I did.....

To those that served with honor, and to those who gave the ultimate..... I'm indebted.

Know in your hearts, know in your soul, the truth in what you gave, will never set into darkness, but always provide light, to those who seek the truth......even when darkness gathers, again.

Peace be with you......

I must chime in here

I thank all of you who served, your sacrifices were far more that you should have ever been asked to give, but you gave freely, without want, without hesitation. I thank you all for what you have done for your country, your family, your friends, your country men. I hope you all know that you were, and are appreciated!

I know what is for, but I am pretty sure that each and every one of you that have fought for our country, left a little piece behind. No matter how small, or how big. You lost something, whether it be the innocence of childhood, or the loss of men you served with. Part of you is gone, isnt that something to remember and value?

That's why we have veterans day to remember and value our sacrifices. I would be selfish to stand in line today for thanks when I came back. I very much remember my fallen brothers who sacrificed all and did not come back. This is their holiday.

I guess Im about the whole picture, I mean no disrespect, I only look at all things sometimes, It may be because I personally have not had to deal with the loss of anyone that has served, I respect you opinion, however I will continue to remember the whole picture and what we all have lost. Also, AP thank you for your service, even though its not vetrans day. Your service did not go unoticed

We have a veterans park here with a wall of all those who died in wars from our county and behind that wall is a wall of all those who served in the armed forces from our county.

Vietnam veteran of American chapter 240 of whom I am a member puts on a memorial day celebration each year.

I attended today and it was great especially when Rolling Thunder, the Veterans motorcycle club came rolling in led by the Sheriffs patrol on their Harleys. It was a good day honoring the fallen of all US conflicts.

I was humbled,

People like you deserve our respect. Thanks!

Those who gave their lives and those who survived should be remembered often. Holidays are nice, but the meaning of holidays is often blurred with social celebrations and commercial bargain sales. Those that serve in the arm forces, don't join to die, but it happens. The reasons for enlisting vary, but deep down I believe all of us have hopes that we can do what we can to make our country great. We swear and oath to protect the United States Constitution. That oath has no expiration date. That oath is life long.
