Title: Canceling/plugging emissions hoses
Post by stewie on 05/26/13 at 10:45:57

I have a 1996 Suzuki Savage LS650. After many recent repairs, I finally have her running smooth. The problem is that there are two unterminated emission (I assume) hoses that run from either side of the carb. I'm not sure where they were previously routed but I have noticed that my bike idles low and stalls if they hang low.

I'm not in CA and don't care about emissions regulations that pertain to that state. I talked to a guy that builds bikes last night and he told me to look for a "cancel kit". What is this and where can I find it? Are there other options? Can I simply remove both hoses and cap the valves with something?

I see what this guy did: http://www.motorcycleforum.com/showthread.php?t=110107, but I don't see a need for the hoses if they don't serve any purpose emissions wise.

These wouldn't be upward routed hoses that come out the same place on each side of the carb body just above the float bowl flange now would they?

Those might be 2 identical unterminated plain short hoses that act as bowl vents and they go up into the empty frame section inside the tank area and they do nothing other than equalize bowl pressure with outside air pressure.   But they do need to be there with the hoses routed up under the tank to go up inside the main frame tube (keeps the bugs out).

Might be, could mebbe be -- you see you never did tell us exactly which hoses you might be referring to .....   so we are guessing.

May they be these here little hoses?
