Title: rattle rattle
Post by Pine on 05/24/13 at 14:24:55

My savage is making a clinking rattling sound.. which sounds like old timey shackles clanking.
I have "fixed' both the headlight and the speedo cluster.. so its not that.. plus its coming from down low and seems to clank with the working of the suspension. Mostly on the left side. Just sounds loosy-goosy.

Any ideas of what to tighten up appreciated:

Thanks all...

I cant find anything loose.

The "cling cling" is actually more while "powerd up". I mean if you are accelerating any at all.. then there is cling sound. IF you are coasting the sound goes away. I guess I attributed this to suspension.. because you have to pretty much be moving to put the load on the motor/tranny/something to hear it. Still sounds loosey.

TRy taping a wadded up rag to different things. If that dulls the sound, youre close, real close,,

I have been told by the previous owner of my wife's S-40 Suzuki that the belt guard can cause a rattle.  He took it to the dealer and they told him they couldn't do anything about it.  When I shut it down, I do hear it for a few seconds, but while riding I haven't heard it yet.
