P-40 ... Flying Tigers
Flew in China against the Japanese before we actually declared war against them.
The pilots were primarily from the military but were officially designated as civilian volunteers at the time.

You can do the same scheme,, no biggeee,, its not like youre gonna be at a party & someone show up in the same dress..

Title: Re: first bike pictures, project quite finished!
Post by shovelbum87 on 05/28/13 at 15:12:50

But that ruins the originality. And Im quite sure that you dont have the same dress as me! Im thinking you dont wear too many dresses... Wait then again neither do I
HAHAHA

good point, it really hasnt been original since WW2, but thats not the point. I will have to come up with something else "original" :P

How about a Gold Tooth on the sharks mouth?
Or maybe a Clown Mouth.....big red lips and all?
Or maybe a "Betty Boop" mouth?
I have always like the Easy Rider bike with the flag tank.
Or the two tone style of the Triumph and BSA tanks....some kind of a retro looking pastel combination?

For some reason.....I am thinking that ShovelBum is not going to go for a "girly-girl" paint scheme.

So, BUm,, lets say you paint your bike & its all cool lookin & youre happy with it. Then you

A: Meet someone with an almost identical paint job, but yours is a month older.

Are they somehow "Less than" because your idea is original?

B: You meet someone with an almost identical paint job & theirs is a month older.

HOw do you feel about yours now? Would you feel differently if yours was older?

If its already painted, It does not matter. It only matters prior to the finished product. Im crazy what can I say?

Naaaah, yer not crazee,, just not a solid pragmatist, yet.
There are quite a few WWII paint jobs you could grab onto. Tho, you mite not be really comfortable with a pin up girl painted on the side of the tank,,
HEY! Maybe go get one of those "Glamor" shots done & have it made into a decal!  Yea!  A pic of You, on the tank, dressed up, well,, you know,,

Your bike looks GREAT !

Is that a camera trick on the motor ?   ....   The whole thing works together  in a really good way ... 8-)

That Military Looking bike looks perty "Crisp and Clean" too !  :o

The black thingie stickin' out the side? its a crash peg, in case I drop it. I fubar'd up my POW sticker...it got some overspray on it during a touch-up and I tried to clean it off...ended up erasin' everything so I took it off. And would you believe its a Krylon paint can job?.... chips really easy, I just wanted to see what it would look like, ended up not bad, gonna change to a different theme this summer some time, not sure what it will be yet. Maybe a movie will inspire me or something....I was thinking since the wifes 650 is not so comfortable to me that I might ride the ninja up there to the meet, just wasn't sure if ya'll would give me too hard of a time riding a "young mans toy" and all. :-/

I saw a Flying Tiger at the Mods vs. Rockers in Charlotte today and thought of you JPS, he did crazy rivet and seams airbrushing that really  looked 3D in person.

Now theres an Idea! Bad idea, but an idea, none the less.. NOw, had I taken some pics when I was about 27,, thatd be a bit different. 135 pounds, 28 inch thighs & 30 inch waist & arms that filled the sleeves & a neck that made buttoning for a tie impossible. I always had too big of a neck to make ties easy, I just thot shirts were made wrong,, till I got old & lost all that & now shirts fit,, whoda thot?
& No, I didnt go to the gym,, I rode a 10 speed & roughnecked & played with a 40 pound barbell at home,

Maybe she Could find a good "beefcake" instead of cheesecake pic, tho..

If you do, please, ohh PLease dont go with Ahhhnold,,

Shovelbum, if you want a Tiger, you could always do a Panzer Mk 8, or perhaps a Sherman or Bradley might be more appropriate to Americans, there is also a much smaller faster AFV in the US tank corps which might be more appropriate to the S40/Savage.
