He rode 650cc Triumph Thunderbird 6T, said to be his personal bike in the 1953 film The Wild One. There were a couple of Matchless bikes in the film with the logo turned upside down. That bike looks like one of them. A Matchless G9

The rear shocks look like the "jampot" type used by Matchless during the 1950's.

The OP wasn't asking what kind of bike it was. He already knows that now. He wanted to know if it was 500cc. Reading the post would help. ::)

only reason most of these old codgers know it is a matchless G9 is they owned one when they were brand new ;D 8-)
