Title: 07 s40 vibrates badly
Post by bufbills on 05/07/13 at 02:48:25

my brother just picked up an 07 s40 and it vibrates much more than my sons 01 savage. The vib can be felt in the seat bars etc. Its real bad when pulling in the clutch to change gears. any ideas?

Thanks!

Any mods to the newly aquired 07' and if so what?  How many miles on it, have you checked that bolts are tightened especially engine mounts?

As suggested, check that the mounting bolts are tight.  When you pull in the clutch you are taking the torque off the engine momentarily, and this may allow the engine to move in the frame more than when it is under a load.

13 k onit with no mods. I understand about taking the load of when pulling in the clutch, but the vibration is excessive at best. Ill check the mounting bolt later.

thanks

Are there any additional sounds or noise associated with the vibrations?  Is the belt at the proper tension?  Does it vibrate even when sitting still and the engine is running. Does the frequency of the vibrations change with the engine speed......or wheel speed?

It doesnt vibrate while sitting in nuetral. Sounds just like the others Ive had contact with. The belt seems tight to me but I need to check it when I get home.

The vibration seems t be associated with rpms and not the wheels.

Be sure to check the top motor mount. You have to remove the fuel tank.

Yep...sound advice.  We just had an owner here with the same issue, way less miles and it was the bolts

yep. It was the top mount. Thanks for the help guys. Its drizzling here so I couldnt get crazy, but I was able to get through the gears and up to 70 with no vibration.

Thanks again!

Seems to be a recurring issue. I had the same thing.
