Title: 1997 Suzuki Savage LS650 ignition problem
Post by hotrodjac on 05/06/13 at 15:00:04

I have a 1997 Suzuki Savage LS650. Last fall mice got under the tank and chewed wires. During the winter I took it apart and repaired the wiring, really took my time and know it's right. Installed new spark plug and new battery. When the ignition is on all lights work as they should. The engine cranks over but there is no spark. Where do I begin?

I'd start with the connectors and safety switches.  I'm assuming you have a fully charged battery and you've checked voltage drop during cranking.

Try a new plug. You never know. :)

Try jumping it from a car battery...  (don't have the car engine running)...
A weak battery will work the lights, and starter, but still not deliver a good enough spark to fire...
