Title: I had an idea
Post by wambr on 04/30/13 at 08:20:55

once here on the forum many of you, guys, have had trouble in the form of oil leakage into the connector cable speedometer . it is a pity, of course, that this was not the thought came to me at once... Oh well...
in General, after repair of the engine in a box with junk in the garage my eyes caught the old valve seals.. i identifying them on the speedo cable and I found almost complete coincidence of sizes. for a normal install accounted for just cut off the bottom of the metal part of the gland to a thickness of 4 mm and remove the spring . and here he was, a new  speedo cable seal is ready. (explain photos, as it seems to me much sense not, but if need be, I 'll try to do them), while that with this gland is not hit no one kilometer... but we'll see... ;)

I have tried many times to post pic just as it has been described here, and it doesn't work for me. Is it because I run Windows 7 ? :-[

Paul I strongly reccomend imgur.

www.imgur.com
You dont have to create an account but its nice to have one.

Drag the whole bunch of images right onto the site and it will do it for you.

I couldn't imagine anything being easier then PhotoBucket  :-?

Click upload, brows your PC to find the pic and upload.
When done the pic is there waiting to be linked.

here he is, has already reached its valve seal....

cut off from it is not necessary for us part, about which I wrote above....
http://cs315327.vk.me/v315327733/6088/N7CyBBRUPdc.jpg
we have just what we need...
http://cs315327.vk.me/v315327733/607f/d1lR29uelww.jpg
http://cs315327.vk.me/v315327733/6091/UtRs5vzZsNQ.jpg
the rest
http://cs315327.vk.me/v315327733/609a/oHvWl7zrH_k.jpg
can be thrown in the trash
now you only have to check how many miles I can go with this seal, but it seems to me he is still long and good will

& I took an O ring that was too big, cut a section out & slapped it in. NO leak. IF you do that, make the cuts at an angle, a steep angle.
