That road and its traffic is scary....period. No pleasure ride for me in conditions like that.

I was making a right hand turn off a side street onto the main road yesterday, turn signal deployed, waiting for a spot to merge. I noticed a truck coming up behind me, I made some rapid brake squeezes, moved around a bit in my sit to gain attention. A woman pulled up and squeezed to the right of me.....when she pulled even with me, her window down, I informed her I was indeed going right as my turn signal was indicating....
She said she didn't notice it/me....I asked her if she "LOOKED" she backed up....idiot. She looked like a welfare queen who just made a beer run.
If I had not been watching behind me, and was just watching the traffic on the main drag, I could have went, she would have forced me into oncoming traffic at 55 MPH on a two-way main drag....

I'd lost that battle fer sure  >:(

That would have seriously given that rider and his bike a real bad day if that connected him. :(

Any bets as to whether the driver of the black pickup was totally distracted talking or texting on a cell phone. [smiley=angry.gif]

Looks like it is SOP for all motorcycles there to pull clear onto the shoulder when stopping, even when stopping behind traffic in front; the one making the recording did, the motorcycle in front of them did, and in the distant front it appears that there is another motorcycle who did.

Looks like a good SOP, given the activity that occurs in the main lane...

Thatd make it slam shut so hard the edges might kinda weld together from the pressure. Fella might be layin pencils down a while,
I did note that the riders were off to the right. Wonder how many have been flattened there..
NO excuse for driving , Ohh, Distracted is what they call it now, innit?
I can see talkin on the phone, on the road, but not on busy roads. & Texting? Driving? If its parked..
I wish I could make out what was being said..

well, don't jump to conclusions.
there was enough going on the left side to distract anyone.
then doofus there stops dead in the middle of the road, but I couldn't see a reason.

and anyone shoulda known he needed to slow down.

I think I heard someone yell something about a funeral procession.  In my neck of the woods, we all pull over and stop to let the funeral pass by.  There was another motorcycle stopped ahead of the car, on the shoulder, before the crash.  Of course, you need to do so in a safe manner, and not cause a danger when you do.

But times are a changing, people do not stop for funerals around here like they used to do, I think there are several reasons for that, but this is not the right place.

Anyway, we need to remember we are invisible and naked.  But the truck smashed into a car, not a bike.  Texting, talking on the phone, eating a cheeseburger, changing the radio, putting in another CD, that could be an endless list.
