Title: Handlebars
Post by Steve H on 04/26/13 at 16:37:58

I changed handlebars the other day.  I believe they are Sportster originally.  Got them at a swap meet last weekend.

Has anybody noticed after changing bars, their bike almost feels like a new (different) machine?

Aside from my carpal tunnel problems not cutting off blood flow to my hands anymore, it's more comfortable to ride.  Sitting position is better. Handling is much better. There is lots less vibration in the grips than with the stock buckhorns. Power application feels smoother.

I couldn't believe the difference.

Another question, has anybody noticed that there seems to be a little more vibration when leaning left and applying throttle than when leaning right?  Yeah, I finally started cutting up some twisty backroads now that I feel more comfortable on the bike.  It was sort of hard to ride too much when my hands were numb.

Yea bars can make a huge difference in a bike, it's all about personal preference. Your size, abilities and riding style all contribute to what makes you feel comfortable be it different bars, foot pegs, seat or anything else. Bars are one of the biggest changes that can make a bike feel entirely different  :)
