I'm a mechanically inclined person when it comes to cars and trucks but I am a complete noob when it comes to motorcycles. I have two hoses on the right side of my savage that run to nowhere. I have a hard time believing that they are both vacuum or vents. but wanted to be sure. I just got the bike back together after painting it and still haven't found where they go.

So bowl vents (one in each side of carb) go nowhere.

I bet your second line is the vacuum that should end up in the petcock.
Hopefully you did not fix the left side bowl vent there  ;)

Yup,.. the one with the spring over it,.. goes to the rear of the petcock...
It is a vacuum tap, that opens the vacuum operated petcock...

does the line on the left side(petcock side) run to the petcock?

On the left side there is one that goes from the carb to the petcock. The other one is a vent line and goes into the frame under the gas tank. You can easily tell them apart.

OK. Let me see if I got this right now. 2 Vent lines to nowhere on top of the carb and the spring covered line goes under the carb and into the bottom nipple of the petcock

Thats right, two vent lines to no where under the fuel tank, one spring covered vacume line from the right side of the  carb to the petcock, and a fuel line from the petcock to the left side of the carb.  :)

They don't go to "nowhere" they go somewhere that they can breath fresh air without sucking up any debris. From the factory they are tucked up inside the backbone(top tube).

Too bad Cavi isnt a barber. A guy would come outta there with twice as much hair as when he went in, after he split every hair on his head..
Im sure our noob really needed the definition of Nowhere..
Ill even go so far as to say that our noob & every other member reads "Nowhere" & understands it to mean, "Not connected to a nipple on some air/fuel/or engine component"..

Geeeze, if youre a supervisor Ill bet your charges just Looove you..
