Title: Chain Conversion Post by braveteacher on 04/16/13 at 18:48:26 I am sure it has been talked about 100 times...but I can not find what I am looking for. Question is: Has anyone converted to an 18/43 on a ryca or otherwise and if so how does it run? My sweet spot is 48 to 50 MPH on my bike...anything over that I my sphincter tightens up so much I am constipated for a week...I want to cruse at 65 or 70 and ride on the highway...Any help would be great. |

(your hearing will adjust to the tone)... 48 to 50mph in 5th gear, is barely loping along...(any lower in 5th, and you are verging on lugging the engine)... The sound changes, from a putt to hum,... but this not indicative of any engine strain... a stock Savage is perfectly happy at 65mph... Relax yer' sphincter... Ooooommm... :-?... PS.. I converted to 454ltd front pulley,(2 extra cogs) and changed back, because I didn't like the wider spacing on all the other gears... That's just a personal preference... I felt like had to wind out every gear too far to reach the next one... it felt like the bike was having to work harder, for how I ride... ;)... |

Title: Re: Chain Conversion Post by mpescatori on 04/17/13 at 04:54:33 I have just converted to 17/49 and it is a sweeet conversion 8-) 17/49 = 2.88:1, where the stock ratio is 2.965, so it is just a leeetle bit longer, better fuel mileage but essentially the same performance. 50mph at 3500 rpm, very sweet. ;) |
