Title: I'm back
Post by BOBD on 04/09/13 at 10:31:10

Thought I had quit riding, but I went riding today. I'm baaack!  69 years old and still riding! Had stopped because of small accident. I'm fine now. Well, my knee still hurts a bit, but it's not bad.

Welcome back Bob! Glad to hear you're healing up and ready to ride again!

I am retired and just 63, so I am "old enough".
Two years ago on 22 Feb. I left the pavement at about 50 mph; the front wheel found a hole in the weeds and I was LAUNCHED into the air and came down back first, still in the weeds & hard dry dirt.
The launch broke part part of my back and the landing broke other parts, along with some ribs, and bruised internal organs.
The bike was totaled by the insurance company but I bought it back from them.
It took a while to heal up but I'm still riding.
God could have taken me then but He didn't, so I figure I am still good to ride.   When He decides it's "MY TIME" it won't matter where I am...riding or in a rocking chair on the porch.  When, where and how He stops my heart is entirely in His hands.
YEP

Nice to meet you bobd, i'm a recent newbie and a few years your junior, you are an inspiration to me because I hope to be still riding in 10 or so years.
Like others on this forum who have looked the reaper in the eye and said "not today mate...not today", I myself will keep riding till it is no longer physically do-able.

I'm not medically cleared to ride anymore, do so anyway. Occasionally (infrequently) borrow a bike from a friend, the Savage is deceased so I bum saddle time on a 1500 Drifter or a Road King. Have been offered the use of a 1400 Intruder (too cramped), a Fat Boy (solid wheel Softail HD), and a second Road King.

If your arms and legs still kind of work, ride.
