Title: Bike nostalgia Post by LostArtist on 04/02/13 at 18:49:00 feeling nostalgic for my S40 today, that bike was just my size, my bonneville although a great bike and I love the riding position is still kinda hefty at 500 lbs. The s40, so light, made it feel a lot more nimble, especially in a parking lot. and it was fast enough, no problems there, simple to maintain, even valve checks weren't that bad. sigh . . . |

Mostly front end amage from running into stuff. Pinwall in Mansfield, OH has lots of good wiring harnesses for sale. When I get nostalgic.....I go back to my senior year in high school. I would get out of school and drive to Lee's Auto sales in Columbiana, OH. He was a car dealership that just started a Kawasaki dealership. I went there after school and took brand new Kawasaki 900cc Z-1 and 750/500/350/250 H-1 triples out of crates, put them together, fill the oil, fuel and battery......then take them on a test ride! How cool was that for a high school senior! |

Its like 925lbs loaded up....and i'm like 5'10" and weigh only 150lbs... and after radiation and chemo i'm selling it and will probably stick with the little sport bike for a bit. Although after getting the 2002 LS650 Savage for the wife at such a bargin price ($1300) I might actually look for one myself when I sell the harley because I'll allready know the ins and outs of the Savage. Besides the savage is really lightwieght has plenty of torque and goes fast enough for intersates, why would you need more? |

R.F.[/quote] No bar switches, everything is being redone to circa 1972 custom specs with toggle switches for the headlight and turn signals, no kill switch, relocated starter button. Starter relay is in the toolbox area of the battery box. Push button through the box top. Hard part is shortening the ganged together power circuits. Wish it was like the 1963 I'm building, headlight, tail/brake light, coils and points plate, selenium rectifier, 5 wire stator. 10 or 15 wires for the entire bike instead of the cooked spaghetti mess of large and small, circuits to nowhere, colors don't match the diagram Savage. |

The thought of pulling a few hundred miles a day riding the LS650 on Interstates doesn't appeal to me in the least, most people doing 10 MPH over the speed limit, OTR truckers and people driveing 50 miles longer then they should have trying to make time....no thanks. I wouldn't mind hitting up a couple hundred miles a day on country roads stopping at scenic overlooks and points of interst though, just my take on it ;) |
