Hey thanks for thinking of me..... I'm good. I do live in a beachfront community, but in the cheap seats. We loose ground every winter, had a big slide this year on our bluffs, but not like that. Its a fact, this island is losing real estate every year.....
In some spots they even pumped sand from barges where they brought from other locations, to create a beach upon where people could build homes under these bluffs. I looked at one home like that when I first moved up here. I'm stupid, not dumb, BIG differences  :D

And people are surprised because of what exactly? Sandy clay banks, glacial gravel deposits, water... Building on bluff tops in western WA is a bad idea. Even up in the mountains the ground is unstable. Our place in Buckley (by Mount Rainier) was constantly having micro slides. Even taking mature red cedar trees with sometimes.

Ray you should ride up there and go relic hunting. The last big slide at Dash Point State Park friends and I found lots of fossilized bones that came out of the clay bank.

Dash Point in Tacoma?  Ain't a nice place to play no more from the reports (fishing) I read. Tweakers seem to use any car, bike, boat, as a debit card for buying their drugs.......

Hey Ray,
I'm just up the road in Coupeville. I got a call from my dad in Omaha as soon as we hit the National news. He wanted to know if the huge slide affected us. Mind you, I'm a bit over two miles from the nearest bluff!! I am holding out hope that I might be water front some day... ;D

Dash Point's in "Dreadful Way". Well kind of partway between Federal Way and Tacoma. Haven't been there since before Lisa and I lived out there. She insisted on going sand dollar searching when we were out there on a visit in 2000.

Les Davis Pier in Ruston is bad too, the Vietnamese and Russian fishermen will take your catch, whether you are willing or not.

I quit fishing the salt in 2008 or so. Even at Luhr Point in the Nisqually Delta, you catch nothing but seaweed, tumor riddled pile perch and flounder, hook the errant harbor seal or porpoise, dogfish or salmon that you'll get robbed for in the parking area.

Hey count me in for Hurricane Ridge. It is actually a little over an hr's ride from me. I love that ride.
DjMidnite and Stinger as well as John FSO may even be able to join us.
Let me know in advance.
Also Ray, I have relatives that live on Whidbey Island. I am actually hoping to get over to visit in the next week or two.
I am again hoping the weather will allow me to bring my bike along. Genie loves the ride.

Also keep the last Sunday of Sept open as if you didn't know already, that is the Oyster Run in Anacordes.

Glad to hear your house is not one that is affected by this slide.
My relatives are in the clear and for that I am very thankful. :) kim

Not sure yet, seems we will have to see what
everyones schedule is as well as how long this
stretch of warm weather stays around.
Right now Tuesdays are my only day I can do
a ride like this.
That will be changing in about 3 weeks and eventually
I will have Thursdays and Friday nights off.
IF everyone else can arrange it, I can follow suit, hack, hack,
oh I think I may be coming down with something.. ;) kim

Raydawg, what is your schedule like?
Are you available for a meet, ride, and
lunch on the Island itself perhaps?
Dj isn't that far from Whidbey Island either.
Tuesday is good for me of this week, short notice
I realize, then again just a thought.
You guys let me know. :) kim

Hi All!

The wife and I have been planning for a Hurricane Ridge ride this summer. We bought a one-year Nat'l Park pass last August, and we need to take advantage before it expires.

Timing wise, I'm on Mids until the end of April, so I sleep days until about 2:30 PM. If you do put together a ride for Tuesday, and you're still on the Island in the afternoon, I'd love to catch up with you!

Starting May 1st, I'll be a normal person again (more-or-less  :)) so our weekends will be wide open.

Hope to catch up with you all sometime!!  Mark

Ray,

Sorry about snagging your bike. You left it sitting on the floor over at Skagit Powersports, and those crooks sold it to me!!   ;D

My wife rides a Spyder RT, so I guess I can forgive the BIL's Harley. It actually woks out really well. She prefers to ride drag, and that big trike keeps the cagers off my back. Also makes it real easy to pack the camping gear.  ;)
