Do any of you have suggestions for the following items below? Would aftermarket products be a possibility? Or would original Suzuki equipment be best. Any and all suggestions would be helpful.

1. Backrest and tail rack.
2. Wind shield.
3. Drive belt
4. Oil filter

I like the S-06 Spitfire windshield for price and ease of insulation, but it is not very large. I usually run a Suzuki oil filter number 16510-37450, but I grab an Emgo if they are out of the OE filter. I doubt anyone on here has bought a belt. Are you building a wreck, checking prices or what? THE Marketplace on here can surely come up with a used belt. And several have crafted beautiful rests and racks. hth

Backrest for or you, or your pillion?...

I have some side rails/sissy's/ backrests/ pads/.. and a small rack...
I'll be putting them up in the market soon... I'm at the wrong 'puter right now...
PM me if you can't find anything... ;)...

I use oil(HF-138) and the air(HF-3807) filters hi-flow . I just have in Russia is that for me it is easier to buy than the original quality is fine . tried even to make the air filter from the car-turned out pretty well, but it quickly getting wet in the rain .
drive belt from other manufacturers me pick up failed.

Wind shield hard to decide, I'm happy with oem, some people aren't and aftermarket may be cheaper

Ron the best fitting,most solid mounting,least vibrating windshield I've found is from Memphis Shades. Several of us here on the forum have the "Memphis Slim" model and they look and fit like nothing else.

The initial cost is higher than some other brands but mine is almost 17 years old and is still in good condition!

Memphis shield (that I made mirror brackets out of, the shield was junk after a crash on my VN800 Classic in 2/2008, but the bar clamps make killer mirror mounts). Emgo filters, even the dealership used to buy Emgo from the shop I was at and repackage them in oem boxes for the do it yourself owners. Hi Flo work fine as well.

The factory stuff is all aftermarket sourced and put in official packaging anyway. Suzuki parts are made by the same outfit that makes Fire and Steel stuff for Kawasaki.

Was in the industry for a long time... Keihin is Honda, Showa is Honda, Denso is Toyota, NGK is a Denso subsidiary... Mikuni is Yamaha, Stanley electrical is Denso, any HD part with a K in the part number is Honda/Kawasaki/Yamaha/Toyota sourced... ::)

Parts is parts. Most of the aftermarket high dollar gee whiz trinkets (chrome, lighting, etc) are made in Taiwan by Emgo and put in fancy packages (look at license plate frames some time, I've peeled off dozens of Kuryakyn labels that were over Emgo labels)... ;D

JOG, years ago I had a friend who worked for Bendix. It was his job when they moved into a new area to go in & rebox any products that met Bendix standards in Bendix boxes. I didn't like it then, & I don't like it now. But apparently it's legal. :o

It also made it very hard when I found a set of brake pads that worked really well on my racecar to get another set just like them. I ordred 3 sets the same brand before someone at that store told me they had changed brands a while back & those may have been repackaged. :-? After that I had the ones I wanted in a week. ;D 8-)

It isn't like they know who had the current low bid to supply the oem ones... And knowing how cheap Suzuki throws these bikes together with parts made in Taiwan and red China... the Emgo ones are probably the same or better than factory filters anyway.

By the way, 'Boofer' said, "I doubt anyone on here has bought a belt".
Doesn't the drive belt have a regular replacement schedule? Or are they good for the life of the bike?

I discovered that my local Suzuki dealer sold oil filters as cheap as any brand I could find online plus no shipping charge so that actually made it cheaper. I have since resolved to check at my dealer first before buying online.

I needed a taller sissy bar and rack to carry a bag, but the stock back pad was low and the travel bag I use for running errands wouldn't fit or stay on securely, so I got a taller sissy bar and rack combo from Scootworks.
