Title: Frames or chassis help
Post by Stones on 03/19/13 at 15:31:26

Im looking at what is for sale as a 1994 frame reckon its more likely a 1996 but its a USA import .. im in the UK ?

Are all the frames basically pretty much the same despite there year?

This would be important .. for a complete rebuild etc

I presume all parts would be interchangeable despite there year.

Any help would be useful before i do this.

Thanks

To best of my knowledge... 100%...

I'm with Serowbot, I don't think the frame has changed since it came out at all.

As far as parts interchangeablity goes, check getting a late model starter as these are less prone to destroying the bendix drive, if it backfires while starting

:-?

A true back fire with a savage is as rare as hens teeth.

What does happen on a pre'95 is kick back on shut down.
The engine will spin backward if it stops on the compression stroke.
This will engage the starter gear and bust out the mounts or bust teeth.
