Title: Did I make a mistake? Outer fork tube question.
Post by Greg on 03/12/13 at 04:30:05

I picked up a pair of outer fork tubes from a member here to make my swap easier. I plan on putting my 4" over tubes in them and then swapping to the bike. That way my bike isn't down until I get it done. My question is about the lower tubes. I didn't check before I bought them and now am wondering if they will work.

I have an 02 and the ones I got are from an 05. The micro fiche says the inner tubes and seals are the same part number. The outer tubes are a different part number. I assume since all the guts are the same that my new inner tubes and seals will work but will the assembly bolt back on the same?

Greg,
Suzuki added the black plastic guards to the lower tubes in 2005 and would have had to machine a grove to accept them. I can't guarantee it, but that should be the only change. You can check and see if the fiche shows these guards with the new part number in 2005 but the old number without the guards in 2004 and earlier. Hope this helps.

Good hunting
