1996 suzuki 650 Savage - $2200

Clean and dependable transportation great milage low miles 6600 always stored inside maticously maintained and pampered so much it almost made me sick to watch her. This bike is a 1996 and you will get a wonderful set of wheels for being a bike of it's age.

Kelly Blue Book is $835 - $1320  I told the guy I thought he was too high at $2200 but he assures me it is in brand new condition.  and he wont go below $2000.

I paid $1500 for my 97' Savage,.. 6 years ago with 3k miles...
...a 96' with 6k, today?... I'd be lookin' for $1200 to $1500 max...
$2200 is way over...

PS... are they the original tires?... If so, they need replaced... That's $225 minimum...

I would check around in your area to see what they have sold for in the past. Maybe check Craigs List for some selling prices. Personally, I think that is way too much. But, if it is as he says, it is worth a little more than the average scooter of that age. KBB can break it down to area. I would check there. If that is where you got the values from, I would keep looking. Check back with him in a couple of weeks or a month and see if he still has it and will come down on the price.

Last year I turned down a 2005 with 2,000 miles on it for $ 2,200, and bought a 2007 with 262 miles on it for $ 2,650.

The prices can vary a great deal and in Cincinnati the prices seem to be much higher than in the surrounding rural areas in Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia.

It is hard for some owners to understand that if they bought these bikes new - they will probably get get less than half their purchase price back. This is especially true if they installed upgrades like bags, seats, windshelds......it is hard to get any extra money for add on stuff.

Oh, and as a reference, I paid $2000 for a 2002 with 3200 miles in 2012. It needed tires as they were dry rotted. Check for cracks on the ones on that bike as well.

It is a 17 year old bike and he is asking twice kbb? I would keep looking. It may be pristine, but waxing and polishing won't help all the little rubber bits, hoses, gaskets and seals. I bought a 2007 in February last year with 3,600 miles for $1,500 with absolutly nothing wrong with it other than a small scuff on the tank.

Good hunting

Thanks guys that is exactly what I was thinking.  I told him I was willing to go up to $1600 and to give me a call if he couldn't sell it for the price he was looking for. (As long as it was in the condition he said).

I bought my 1995 with 22k miles last year for $500.  It was leaking a bit from the head area (PLUG LEAKING NOT GASKET), needed new tires, and needed new fork seals. The guy was asking' $800 I talked him down to $550.  It has been a great bike.  I am looking for one for my wife now.

I paid $1200 for a 2002 with 4,000 miles.

The other Double RYCA Build bike was a 2000 with 14000 miles he got for a few hundred.  We did a cam chain tensioner mod right away.  The ticking disappeared.

Last June I paid $1500 for my '96 with 8400 miles. It did have the Memphis Shades windshield but $1500 was pushing the limit of it's value. And it was pristine. Very good condition! And I bought it in peak riding season! Since then I've seen newer bikes with even less miles than the one you're looking at sell(not priced at but actually sell) for $1200-$1800.

My dad told me the worst thing you can do to an airplane was not fly it. IMO, anything with an engine needs to be used. YOu have documented neglect. Yea, it was protected from the elements, but,, its still OLD. Rubber gets hard, oil has drained COMPLETELY down from bearings. Every start is a dry start for everything except the cam which has a tub to splash the lobes in.
Too much $$$,, yea, its still shiny, but its too much $$$, IMO..

OMG ......

I go look at this "pristine bike" today and find out it has a dent on the right side and a scratched up turn signal.  The guy says it is from the previous owner who layed the bike down.  The Oil level is low.  ( no oil in the window when standing upright.  I had to tip it 10 to 20 degrees to the right to see the oil in the window at all.  It also had a possible head plug leak because there was some oil on the fins acumulating in that area.

So much for truth in advertising.

He came down off his number of $2200 to $1800.  I told him Top KBB value was $1300 and I offered him $1200.  He turned it down.  I am actually glad he did because that was probably too much.

I buy and sell a bikes a bit...  ...and it is truly astounding how loosely the phrases "pristine condition", "like new",.. and "perfect condition"  are used...
;D ;D ;D...

... and,... for a lot of sellers,.. if the dent was there when they bought it,.. they don't count it as damage...
... Waasup'widdat?...  :-?...

There was a 2006 in the local Craigslist with bags and the luggage rack and @4000 miles for $1500.  I say "was" because it only lasted a couple of days. >:(

I bought my '07 with 60 miles on it for $2000 back in June. The seller bought it new for his wife to learn on but she lost interest. He gave up after 5 years and put it on Craig's list. I was the first one there with cash in hand. So now I'm learning to ride on her new ride.
