Title: What do you do when Post by rl153 on 02/22/13 at 11:37:47 You cross thread the drain bolt on the oil pan on your car. I can't believe I did it . I've changed the oil 100 times and never did this before.Oh well, any suggestions? Thanks! |

Title: Re: What do you do when Post by Greg on 02/22/13 at 14:51:04 Good point Hex. The bolt is usually what strips. If that's the case, a new one will fix it. I never used a tap on the pan when I messed it up. Taps cost much more than the self tapping replacement. |
Title: Re: What do you do when Post by Greg on 02/22/13 at 14:52:37 rl, I just wipe my pinky finger in there and take it out. If you turn it in a little at a time and back it out, most of the shavings will come out with it. A small magnet can collect the rest. Grease on the self tapper may collect more shavings as well. |
