Title: Savage Vs 2 BSA Thumpers. Post by 23Skidoo on 02/19/13 at 11:44:20 Had a great ride home from work this evening.. fighting my way through traffic I hear the thump thump of not one but two BSAs I'm guessing B50's in Trail kit coming up behind me.. We stayed in formation through the town making the most glorious music people had to stop and look.. My pipe is pretty much straight through so loud and the 2 behind me hardly quiet. We passed the town and hit an open stretch with a nice bit of speed and one of the guys over took me looking at what was making as much noise as them... Seeing my big single he smiled and gave me a nod.. Getting a look at what he was riding I'd say B50 opposed to a B40 and he had no trouble keeping up and passing me. We continued in convoy for several miles until I had to peel off towards home getting a nice wave from the bloke who was behind me as he passed... I love riding bikes even when it's freezing cold on the way home it's these things that really bring a smile to my face.. :) |

Title: Re: Savage Vs 2 BSA Thumpers. Post by bobert_FSO on 02/19/13 at 11:57:20 Just about everyone likes thumpers. I remember back in the early '80s I had a BSA 441 Victor. It vibrated way more than a Savage. I was idling at a stoplight and the forks and front wheel were all shaking up and down. A harley guy with vest, colors and all pulls up beside me. He looks over, smiled and gave me a thumbs-up. |

Moved up to the Trumpets,Beezers and Nortons. All singles and all a trip to ride! It was the memory of those old singles that got me interested in the Savage! |

Post by LANCER on 02/24/13 at 04:24:42 Nice sound; note that he needs to keep bleeping the throttle...with the Amal GP carb there is no idling...it's made to "just GO". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RG9g_GMcz0 Old dude with an old scrambler..." rev it !
