Title: Fishtail muffler installed
Post by Greg on 02/12/13 at 15:35:46

I scored a brand new pair of genuine  :o HD fishtail mufflers for $50. I stuck one on. I still need to get a bolt welded to the muffler so I can get rid of the hose clamp and I don't know if it will bounce enough to hit the brake linkage yet. I haven't road tested it at this point. I did fire it up and compared to my Screamin' Eagle, it is much, much deeper in tone. Not quite as loud but still makes some noise.

That looks cool. What is on your back fender?

Thanks guys. Borracho, that is a fender bib for a Honda Ace 750. It hides the ugly from removing the rear pad and electronics.

Cool muffler, Greg.  What kind of bag is that over it?  Does it get very hot?  Thinking about more storage for my bike without putting on saddlebags.

Prechermike, it is just a regular fork bag I picked up at a local shop. It is a round one, but any should work. It doesn't seem to get hot. At least with my previous muffler but I don't expect that to change. I don't carry much in it. At this time just a duffel bag in case I buy something that doesn't fit in my back rest bag. I did put a bottle of water in there once and it was fine. I got the idea from another member who did the same thing. The cool thing is I paid very little for the bag compared to my buddy who bought a swingarm bag for his HD.

Greg,

Looks good. I've gone through a few different mufflers myself and personally prefer the looks and sound of the fishtail on mine too.  ;D
