I don't know anything about Royal Enfields but I sure like the looks of this one.

Great looking!  Here is a video from Jay Leno's Garage showing the version just prior to the new cafe:

Yeah, Guys were making cafe's out of the C5's and RE listened.  New double downtube frame, 535cc kit Italian forks and adjustable rear shocks...they look killer with the Aluminum body kits.  That's where I got the idea to do my Rycazuki in Aluminum

According to Motorcycle Consumer News the new Enfield has 36 hp, up from 27. Plus it weighs 47 lbs less than a Bullet. It has a new weight of around 360 lbs and has a new frame design. Fuel injection and up to 535 cc from 499. Probably around $7000 with a two year unlimited mileage warranty.  :)

Wambr, that bike is a classic. Separate engine and transmission and right side shifter. That engine has been around for a while.

Do they sell the new India manufactured Enfields in Russia?

Yeeeee haw ... from my home town -

In 1956 Enfield of India started assembling Bullet motorcycles under licence from UK components, and by 1962 were manufacturing complete bikes. Enfield of India bought the rights to use the Royal Enfield name in 1995. Royal Enfield production, based in Chennai, continues and Royal Enfield is now the oldest motorcycle brand in the world still in production with the Bullet model enjoying the longest motorcycle production run of all time.[2]

BTW there is a whole army of accountants, doctors, engineers and other assorted clerical and bean counters who owe their entire lives to that bike.

The same company bought the rights and designs from Zundapp when they went under, and made the 50 cc 2 stroke bikes and the 175cc 2 stroke bugger ... and those nearly killed the company. They were then bought by one of there competitors, and thankfully they were revived the right way, and they made the 500 ... before that the 350 was all they made ... then the 650 cruiser came out and then many more ... when the british started buying it and what not, it was well and truly revived.

Sadly, I'll take a jap bike anyday. I lived near it, never owned or liked it much.

Cool.
Srinath.

Ooo sorry, I was mistaken, the thunderbird is the cruiser, and 500cc not 650.
I may have seen a 650 prototype. My memory seems to be merging what I saw on the showroom floor with what I may have seen on a plinth @ the factory. I had factory access by virtue of my dad who had worked on various of their factories as a machine tool engineer.

Cool.
Srinath.

wambr, you didn't do anything wrong. It's just the only way most of us have in placing the sound of your voice is from what we see of Russians on television. It's like hearing a radio personality and getting an image in our mind, then he or she turns out to be nothing like they sound.  :)
