Title: anyone fit a sportster rear fender/mudguard?

wondered if anyone has fitted a sportster rear fender on their savage and if so - can it be made to provide the same structural function? i.e. hold up a rear passenger without a rear loop section to the frame? Is it in anyway a possible easy swap?
Kind of like the old schoolness of the sportster's arch vs. the savage elongated rear.

Sportster has a right side drive. You'd get better/easier results using an FX (Dyna) rear fender. Super Glide or similar. You'll end up making some custom brackets if you want it to attach properly.

My 98 is running a 70-84 FLH style rear that can go on either a big twin or a Sportster, front is notched for either side drive. And even with having an easy front bracket (headlight conversion piece from the 1970s) it was a pain in the butt. Still need to make a couple bars for upper structural support, the only thing that keeps it from pivoting is the extended exhaust... :o Can't run 2 up with it as it is currently configured.
