My 1986 savage has just had the carb jetted, seals replaced, new float pin, and adjusted to spec.

I can start the engine cold, no choke, and it runs beautifully. After about 3-5 mins it sputters and dies.

It will not properly restart.

What could it be?

Try that petcock test,... it may very well be the problem,.. but, if it doesn't fix it, cum'on back and we'll figure it out from there...
... but, that's the thing to test first...

Hey, the advice was great. The vacuum line had gas in it, I am going to get a Yamaha petcock from a raptor and try it.
