Title: New cat.
Post by arteacher on 01/31/13 at 16:37:43

We adopted an 18 month old cat from a rescue agency. She has developed a weird and annoying habit. We have a big water dish for the dog and cat in the kitchen, When we drop an ice cube on the floor we drop it in the water dish. She started playing with them and flipping them out onto the floor and batting them around, which we thought was amusing, until she started flipping the cubes out of our drinks. :-?

I had a cat that loved to play in water. She would knock all the water out of her bowl. I ended up leaving the toilet seat up and letting her have the toilet to drink/play out of.

Sounds like she needs some cat toys.

I'm trying to figure out why the cat and a drinking glass are on the same surface. Sounds like the problem isn't the cat.

Be careful of this cat, there was a thing onv the internet about an American couple ending up with huge water bills far in excess of normal usage. Water provider could find no faulty meters or leaky pipes. The problem was solved when someone dicovered that their cat had learned to flush the toilet overv and over and over again. Really fascinated the cat.

Cats can get on any surface they want to. We once had a cat that liked to sleep on the top edge of an open door with her legs hanging down the sides.

arteacher,
May I suggest the book 101 Uses for a Dead Cat. You can solve the problem and have great fun at the same time. 8-)

Good Hunting

We have six rescue cats here, one of them loves to splash the water out of his bowl. We solved the problem by getting one of those large plastic dish pans and placing the water bowl in the dish pan. Now he splashes away and all we have to do is empty the pan.

Maybe you could put an ice cube in the pan with the water bowl and she could bat the cube around in the pan. :-?

I love cats. mine will only drink out of a running faucet. there are 2 things that you need to keep in mind  1 nobody ever owned a cat. 2 you never have a brick when you need one. ;D

I've got a cat that if you forget to shut the bathroom door all the way, she will jump in the shower with you.  ::)  She loves the water.

Yeah, I have a water lover too. He bangs on the door to go out if it's raining, storming (loves thunder storms), snowing, or sleeting.

He just stands out there in the rain until he's soaked...odd.

+1

Cats can be trained to never get up on the dining table.  Both of ours stay off.  I will admit that the dining table and the kitchen counters are the only surfaces they do stay off of though.

That's cute. My friend had a kitten that would purposely knock over any cup of water left anywhere.. and only water (no beer or sodas). My girlfriend has a cat. I hate cats.

if you get the cat some mice at the local pet shop, they will keeep it busy.  Just be shure to drill some large holes in the baseboards for the micehotel. ;)
