Title: Well everyone...
Post by martinfilms34 on 01/28/13 at 18:55:50

This is a sad day. I no longer own a suzuki savage.
I ended up selling my thumper and buying myself a 2002 Sportster 1200xl Custom.
As much as I'm gonna miss my little thumper but im feeling good things to come with the Sporty.

Don't worry, I won't turn into that not a very nice person harley guy. I'll still wear my full face and the rest of my gear. And if you guys will have me, I'd love to stay on the forums.

Heres a pic for anyone interested.

Safe Ridin'

You have to do what your heart leads you to Martin. You are still welcome here anytime. Heck, several of the group no longer have a Savage,no big deal! By the way...you can add FSO at the end of your username. Former Savage Owner, you'll see that on quite a few of the gangs usernames.

Keep the breeze on your knees!

I look at it this way,
as long as your on two wheels, you're my friend.

No reason to leave the forum, I think there's plenty of people on here that either don't ride a Savage, or have a Savage and "something else".......myself included.

Good lookin' bike man, have fun rackin' up the miles!

I have had exactly ONE person that said anything about my bike being not being a Harley....  and he was in a cage, a wannabe.  In my experience, Harley Guys are just as cool as anyone on two wheels.  The majority of people who ride agree -- Ride Your Own Ride.  The Big Single, A Sportster, or even a Scooter -- Ride Your Own Ride, we are all Brothers of the Wind.

The majority of Harley riders won't wave at me.
I'll wave at anyone that isn't a 49cc scooter.

I had to go back and double check the date. 2002. It looks older than that - and I like a classic look.
Is the pipe in the middle a balance pipe or just a bracket?

I wave to everyone. Most folks wave back.

And in the interest of full disclosure, I ride my 2006 S40 because I can't afford this ..

People are people. The other day I was in a street with a couple of pedestrians approaching me on the road itself. A large "cool"person on a big motorcycle of cruiser style roared past me unecessarily close to the peds. He'd seen the S40 and just wanted to remind the S40 rider of his lowly place in the motorcycling hierarchy. I couldn't have given a tinkers cuss.

oldNslow that's a sweet looking dream ride.  Here's my dream:

I heard that HD is doing away with the shark nose fairing after this year though...just a rumor but something about going to a liquid cooled engine they have to change the fairing on it.  I don't want a new one though...want one with some miles on her...

Yup its a 2002!
It has the classic peanut tank on it which gives it an awesome look
And if im not wrong it looks like it is a balance pipe!

Hey Martin doesn't matter what you ride, it matters what's in your heart. Best of luck on the new wheels!   ;)

That should be a functional balance pipe as part of the factory noise emission compliance effort.

Nice Ironhead style paint job. Overall a decent looking bike. Now, you do know that red and white is Hell's Angel support colors... don't you? Until the locals get to know you, don't be surprised to have some "issues". Your full faced helmet is going to add to the problem, patch holders have taken to wearing them in order to avoid face recognition software programs...

I've still got my Savage because when we moved it was a choice of finish a paint job and wire mod on the Slopoki, or bring the Panhead that needed over $30K worth of parts and work to get it back up to snuff. Panhead went back to the friend I got it from, Savage came back to the farm with us. As did Lisa's VS800 Intruder and my 1963 Honda Scrambler (piece of junk, should have left it behind).

It's more of an orange color, then red. It looks red cause of the lack of light
And im sure once they see my Florida "Under 21" Plate they'll realize I'm alright! haha.

I still would not take any chances. With those colors I sure would not wear  a vest(except the dayglo safety vests)or have ANY kind of patches on a jacket until I was known in the area and vetted by the local council. It only takes ONE time of misunderstanding to be laid out in your Sunday best. And about the "Under 21"plate.....there's a lot of 81 supporters under 21,heck a lot of them are 16 or under so the age don't mean squat!

What I'm sayin is.....just be smart! Ya know.

i'm definitely gonna be careful.
Im sure that once they get to know me they wont even consider it to think that the color of my bike has anything to do with them.
