Title: E-10 Passes Again
Post by Routy on 12/11/12 at 10:18:05

We're headed south (AZ) again, and will be living on generator power for the next couple months. I thought I better drag out the little 1K watt Honda generator that hasn't run since Mar last year. Tank was full of e10,.....no additive of any kind. Full choke and 5 pulls of the rope, sounded good, loaded it w/ 750 watts, (heater) runs like a new one.
My point,......I still find no ill effects from e10. I know, tell you something I didn't before ;)
Curious, ?.....In 2 months time, I run about 15 gals of e10 thru this little Honda every year.

The big problems with E-10 are related to the hydrophilic properties of ethanol. Not as big a problem in AZ, but one big on in TX on the gulf coast.

We had big discussion when lower octane fuel went E10 Jan/2012.

Table of suitability for different bikes was gathered from manufacturers. I have only used E5 (high octane) since then.

Link is in finnish, but you can find your model / year easily. Red = not suitable and green = OK

Topics here are mostly linked to long storage time (winter) and to excelerated wearing of rubber/plastic components  :-?

Interesting. The savage comes up as not suitable.

And in the small engine/outdoor power equipment business the "long term storage" is where we see the most(but not all)problems with ethanol.
