I've seen too may bent and broken DNA springers to ever recommend one.

I have generic springer front end plans that could be emailed.  I have not looked to see if theier would be any fitment issues but as they are plans they could be tweaked.

Voodoo Vintage had a springer front end on their website... I don't know much about them, but they looked pretty sexy... ;)

I really think HD and Triumph both are missing the boat on this. But then again, the market dictates, and it seems all the market wants is 2000cc+ V-twins :( >:( >:(

Here is my take on the girder/springer FE. They are heavy ...
I recomend the srinath method ... use a dirt bike FE and angled triples.
I built one a few years ago ... 9 degree rake ... but I'd easily to a 12 or so, should work great till 12 I think. I may build a 12 and decide it should stay @ 9, or can got till 14 ...

Here is my pics.

Earlier this year I happened to talk with a couple of guys riding Harley springers. From them I gathered that the only reason for having a springer is looks. They said the springers did not handle as well, did not have as much suspension travel, and rode more harshly. But, they sure LOOKED nice. They didn't mention weight, but the way their bikes were dressed out weight was clearly not a consideration.

The owner of my local bike salvage shop (who did not have any springers for sale btw) told me that there was very little difference in performance between a well built and maintained springer and oil. His take was that he'd ridden them both and that a springer rode just as well, differently but not worse. Springers require maintaining bushings while most riders don't do anything with their forks, and that's why a lot of people don't like the springers.

that black springer bike is the nuts
springers are a step too far in the looks vs performance/maintainance hassles compromise for me - but big kudos to anyone that does it, sure catches my eye.

Modern HD springers are a farce. Traditional ones had grease fittings, modern ones do not. Traditional ones, hit the zerk once a month with some decent grease, modern ones tear down and replace the bushings every 5-10K miles. Traditional ones you run a nice big drum brake, modern runs run a nice big disc brake. And there are replicas with grease fittings and disc brake (or twin disc brake if you so desire).

Springers are kinda like 32 Ford coupes, too common. Go for an early Chief springer from Kiwi Motorcycles or Paughco...

The leaf spring front ends always look so bulky to be.  Definitely out of place on a Savage.  They'd be better suited for a vintage style big twin.

They worked great on my 1936 and 1938 Indian Chiefs (pre-date the valanced fender by a few years) and both 1928 Scouts. Neither of which are much bigger than a Savage overall. The big trick is finding real fenders that look right on a Savage, the stock ones leave a lot to be desired, hence, a full Shovelhead FLH steel rear on mine. Still looking for a decent front fender (hate FLH fronts).

Those leaf-springers are more popular than coil-springers - they just not as abundant - but they soon will be.

They ride better once you figure out the handling quirks. Very stiff front suspension.

I just talked to a couple VERY trusted people in the bike business and was told DNA was sold to another company for a few years. And that's when they went to crap. There are still alot of them floating around, used. They've been sold again and the products are alot better.I was also told they are good for lighter bikes,up to Sporties, just most guys won't run them on big twins. But I also would think if they were that unsafe guys like Chandler originals and a few others wouldn't be putting them on production bikes they are building.

Granted they don't handle as good. That's why everybody has gone to hydralic frontends. And for me I like the looks of them and girders. And I don't baby my bikes.it's a little different getting used to them.
