Is it good or bad?   Specifically, your point is?

I would think that any informed citizen (versus your typical sheeple) would really like to know what they are eating. Therefore, to not allow that knowledge is bad.

They overwhelmingly voted NO, in violation of the 10th amendment. This Says the States cant force food companies to label the food as Contains GMO if it does,

= BAD

I do not believe GMO is as big an issue as some make it out to be, but I agree a State should be allowed to make it's own food laws. If a state like California can have emission rules that force auto and motorcycle mfgs to produce two different style vehicles then I would think a state could demand it's own GMO labels. I'd like to hear what were the stated reasons some voted against it.

I'd like to know.
I'm purchasing a product. I should be able to make an informed decision.
Else, why put calorie count on the side of a Big Mac?

This is the same argument in my opinion.

This...

BUT as a libertarian.. I do not see how the Federal government would hava ANY say in whether a state requires such or not. IF a states says all GM must be labled as such.. and it does not violate any federal then.. viola' ... we can.

Sometimes .. often times.. I dont want YAFL ( yet another federal law) .. i want my state to do it.

PS: this seems OLD..
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/thomas

it is also not a single item bill. but seems to be a comprehensive Bill ..kinda hard to judge it on one small issue... (which i cant even find in there)

Found it: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/D?d112:155:./temp/~bdu0xs::|/home/LegislativeData.php|

Wow.. so I read the debate it...

We have some sho nuf assholes in  congress...
You could tell Monsanto bought this out. Even the arguments against it were ... not logical.  Arguments (against)
The FDA knows whats good for us.
