My bike died today, I have just installed a brand new battery,done a reading on tick over a nice 13.89 up 14 But i noticed when i rev up i get a decrease in voltage that cant be right Any i was doing a fuel adjustment on the piolot screw because its come winter here and she seemed slugish Whilst doing the adjustment i had her at peak nicely ticking over, then all of a sudden she died, went to restart just click took a battery reading 11.73 Whats going on i dont get it :'(

Fully charge your battery before doing any tests

Test your new battery's voltage after a fresh charge and then hit the starter for a few seconds and check it again. A big voltage drop to 12 volts or below indicates you new battery may be dropping a cell. Take it out and have it load tested at Advanced Auto or Autozone.

if battery is good, roll on to the charging system.

You can bench test your regulator rectifier with a volt ohm meter

Once you are happy and content that your Regulator Rectifier is rectumfried, go get another one cheap on Ebay.

You will want to check your stator output of course (they rarely go bad), but most likely your issue is a bad regulator rectifier.

The one on top looks better and costs a dollar less.

Thank you for your help I jump started it and removes both seats to get to the voltage rectifier , put meter on the three yellow wire geting current so went for the output wires The black and white one which go,s back to the battery was broken from connector Probllem solved Thank you ever so much again You was right on the charging system fault ;D

my led volt meter shows a lower voltage above 1200 rpm still above 12 volts.. the ignition system has a draw,when i killed a battery and got the bike push started i turned on the blinker and bike started bucking til i turned the blinker off
