Title: When are the republicans going to stop whining??
Post by LostArtist on 11/15/12 at 18:34:18

is that even possible??

they blame the "entitlement" mentality for them losing, they blame voter fraud, they blame racist black america, they seem to blame everyone else for their failure to convey their message clearly without being insulting, the need to leave Frank Luntz and his communication consulting behind. they need to learn how to talk nice to people again, leave the "I told you so" attitude behind and hike up their pants and get on with it.

I'm not saying they have to change their message or their ideals, but they have change how they talk about it, if they can quit being a$$holes about it

the "entitlement" culture fox news keeps harping on, truts me, most of that 47% don't want to be on entitlements, they need to put that horse to rest

probably true, I was less aware of politics then, most of the dems then were whining about the wars though, not sure politicizing war is any better though

Maybe they got REAL quiet when Bammy got in down your way, but in my circle we won't quit until the last soldier is the hell out of these foreign wars for profit.

NO ONE feels more more entitled than the 1% and their less fortunate but gullible minions. The whining will stop when it sinks in that, Citizens United notwithstanding, they can't buy everything. Don't hold your breath.

Maybe peace would have broken out with a different kind of White House, one less committed to waging a perpetual campaign--a White House that would see a 51-48 victory as a call to humility and compromise rather than an irrefutable mandate

Thanks webster, finally agreeing with what Obama is doing, I knew you'd come around ...
Now if only you and your rich CEO friends will agree to pay just about as much in taxes as the working class stiff like me do, we can pretty much sit down to dinner ...
My invitation to meet you still stands BTW, and I am pretty much stationary, I dont go out of charlotte NC. So when you're in this area ...
Cool.

That is true ... the proof - if you saw the interview the CEO of BP gave after the oil rig burnt and killed 9 people and was gushing millions of barrels into the altalntic ... "Yes I would like the last 3 months of my life back" ... No you worthless fool, we'd like to have your head on a freaking platter ...

And Anytime you hear the CEO of Goldman Sachs talk, you would hear atleast 1 reference to "gods work" ... and that after they helped greece hide their debt and financial problems before the euro zone formation.
Once again, not gods work, if someone were to put a bullet in your head, I'd be tempted to call him as doing gods work ... though he better come aremed with a lot of bullets, cos I am sure there are several vultures that will instantly and seamlessly take your place.

Needless to say the fact that these 2 are still roaming the earth free means we are really short of good assasins. Anyone care to apply ... Its not a hard job, just wait and pull a little trigger ...

Cool.

Peace would've had a better chance of breaking out had the GOP not made its primary goal, its #1 mission, to destroy the president. His treatment at their hands has no precedent in American history. Oh, and W. thought he had a "mandate" with a much slimmer margin.

You’ve got to be kidding, right?

First off, the goal of the opposition is to ALWAYS have a one term presidency for the opposition, always. To say otherwise is delusional.

Secondly, no President and I mean no President was attacked mercilessly more than Bush. It’s not even close.

I'm not whining; i'm just pointing out reality. There is no way to argue that point, obama got a pass compared to Bush. that's history now, doesn't matter going forward. I just wouldn't want you guys to get by with re-writing too much history...

As far as whining about the election, I'm not. You won the election by promising to give away more stuff taken from others who earned it. Pretty simple formula. It worked for you, congrats. Now you own the fallout.

My bad. I should just agree that Obama is a foriegn-born Kenyan Muslim commie nazi who's secretly planning to take away everybody's guns in furtherance of his Gay Agenda. I should accept Doanal Trump for the true, selfless patriot that he is, And in any case, we need to get the white back in the White House. Yep, Obama's presidency has been a cake walk.

We're not whining as much as figuring out why we lost.  Wrong candidate?  Ineffective message?  Ineffective communication?  Voters who stayed home?  Wrong VP candidate?  All questions that the losing party always asks.

As I recall, the same thing that the Dems did after Kerry lost.  You guys take this stuff too seriously - politics is a game, but one with significant consequences.  Bammy won fair and square, and for that, he's to be congratulated.  Campaigns are getting more negative every election, but those are the evolving rules of this game.

What I see happening is that primaries are getting more hotly contested, which makes for two negatives for any challenger who wins out in the primaries - he has to spend a boat load of money to win the primary that the incumbent doesn't spend and can save for the general election campaign; and the winner of the primary emerges bruised by all of the negatives that he gets thrown at him by the others in the primary.  Again, the incumbent avoids that.

In 2016, when there will be no incumbent, both parties will have to go thru the primary process, and the playing field of our game of politics will be more even.

;D ;D ;D

Well if Obama had started a war for profit against a country that had done us no harm.
And if Obama and his minions had stood up in front of the American people and lied us into that war with bullsh!t about WMD's and mushroom clouds.
And if Obama had caused the deaths of over 4000 US soldiers in that war and killed over 100 000 civilians in said country including women, children, babies, fetuses, embryos, zygotes, eggs etc.
And if Obame had driven the US into total financial ruin by borrowing trillions for his wars.
And if Obama had let 9/11 happen on his watch killing over 3000 Americans and costing billions more in damages.
And if Obama had played kissy face with the Saudi royal family when he knew the hijackers came from Saudi Arabia and then flew the BinLaden family out of the US after the massacre when all other flights were grounded.
And if Obama had landed on an aircraft carrier that was waiting for him for two days 3 miles off shore, in a flight suit, swaggering his way to a banner 100 hundred feet wide reading "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!" to lie about his war being over.
And if Obama had swaggered and smirked his way through his presidency saying God tells him what to do, and God chose him for the presidentcy.
And if Obama had drank and snorted coke for eight years.

Tired of listing...so to continue:

Yeah, I agree.  We've got to get more inclusive.  Intelligent people come in all sizes, genders, ages and races.  We've got to get them into the GOP fold.

My father said it best when, as a lifelong Democrat, he switched to the GOP in 1960.  He said the Dems had always been the party of the working man, but had become the party of the non-working man.  He saw it even back then, and it's only progressively gotten more so since.

it comes down to are there more hard core conservatives that couldn't vote for "liberal" Romney or more moderates like me, idk

Anyone who believes the GOP is the working man's party probably embraces Marie Antionett's dietary suggestions. Tired, inaccurate bromides villifying half the population won't bring us to a worthwhile exchange of ideas.

The GOP has become the province of  hatred, racism, bigotry, mysoginy, etc., etc., lead by Tea Baggers, Faux News, Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, etc., etc.. People IN THE GOP now acknowledge this. It is to be hoped that such wiser heads will prevail, allowing us all to engage in meaningful dialogue. Failing that, the GOP will continue to be further marginalized by its own shortsighted intransigence, and the country will suffer for want of potentially desirable input.

"You won the election by promising to give away more stuff taken from others who earned it. Pretty simple formula."WM

Not so simple. The repubs promised to give a whole lot of  "stuff" " to their entities who supported them e.g. millionaires and billionaires in the form of huge tax cuts, the resending of the clean air regulations, union busting, no healthcare, pensions or benefits to pay out to their employees...Talk about taking stuff away from those who earned it and giving it away to greed mongers and other slugs who plunder the system.

Why all the "Free Stuff" Bullsh!t? Because the 1% Needs to Pay Back the SS Trust Fund...You see, Reagan and Greenspan (and later Bush II) used the $3 Trillion SS Trust Fund to justify Tax Cuts for the Rich.

If you really want to stop people from getting "free stuff," how about we cut down on welfare to the military-industrial complex, oil companies and drug corporations who don't need it? Those are the real looters and moochers feeding off the government.

And now that us Baby Boomers are about to retire and start redeeming said trust fund, well, the cupboard is bare. So where do we get the money to redeem that $3 trillion stolen.

And THAT's why the 1% are scared sh!tless and screaming "They Want Free Stuff!". We worked hard to build that Trust Fund. We want the money the wealthy got in undeserved tax breaks back. There ought to be a SS Trust Fund Abuse Prevention Act.

I'm sick of these sociopathic projections of the shiftless rich who have been getting free stuff for over 30 years now at the expense of working people.

I'm Independent, but lean toward Starlifter on many of these issues.   I would suggest OB consider him as the "Director of Splainin".   I am a bonafide, registered, free thinking Independent and have been for over 30 years.   That means two things... A) I think, and B) I don't vote party (but alas, I repeat myself).  I vote for people and issues that make sense for the people (remember us?), regardless of party affiliations.   I believe that many of our problems could be resolved, and solved quickly, if both parties would quit bickering over their egotistical BS points, and either work together in earnest, or get THE FORK OUTTA THE WAY!   In particular, however, after this last election, the Rebups had better wake up because the old NeoCon policies are just not acceptable anymore.   In that, their evolution is inevitable and automatic; they can choose to rethink who & what they represent, or fizzle into obscurity.

Really? What does that mean? Pick a topic; any topic. You tell me what you're going to concede as a liberal instead of the idea conservatives always have to concede ground. You tell me what you'll concede on obamacare to gain conservative support. You tell me what ground you'll concede on abortion. Here’s one, can't you concede on not forcing religious institutions to provide abortion pills? Can't you concede at least that little bit of ground?

"You tell me what you're going to concede as a liberal instead of the idea conservatives always have to concede ground."

Obama caved in maybe 200 times in his first term trying to accommodate Republican obstructionists. We should concede NOTHING to these anti-American greed mongers in this second term.

sorry, but anyone who says they are independent but lean towards Star are anything but independent.

I think. I would dare say i know as much or more about the issues as anyone on here.

I believe that many of our problems could be resolved, and solved quickly, if both parties would quit bickering over their egotistical BS points, and either work together in earnest

Voting...  When I say "lean", I'm not sure I understand your argument?  I'm not saying Starlifter influenced my vote beforehand.  I mean we were in agreement on many issues after the fact.  Lets say you and I vote on a dozen issues, and afterward it turns out that in 8 of my votes we were in agreement with yours.   I could honestly say I voted independently, but lean toward you, even tho I didn't care or even know how you voted.  Is that a concept you can grasp?

On the big problem solutions...  Do you not think problems could be more easily resolved if the manner were not better orchestrated by congressional members acting like adults?  To me, the two parties trying to scratch each others eyes out does not seem to be the most optimal platform for arriving at equitable solutions.  However, that is only my opinion and I'm willing to hear arguments?   I can only offer that I have been married for 35 years to the same woman.   Trust me, in that time I've learned a few things about negotiation and compromise.

Here's the thing...
If the left is here... and the right is there...
...then the right runs ten steps further right...
Does that move the middle?...
What if we move 12 steps left?...

1st world nations,... are now left of the U.S....
Democrats would be conservative in most of the leading nations...
Conservatives are just a little left of the Inquisition...
So where's the middle?...
Is it between the two?,... or is it at the point of sensible compromise between the makers and the takers...

Trick question... makers and takers...
Rep's would see Romoney as a maker,... and the people that worked in the companies he bought and sold,.. as takers...
.. but, what did Romoney ever make?... He just used used his and others money to to buy and sell the work of others...
Dem's would see the makers as those who work hard and create something a the end of the day... and the takers, as those that buy and sell the value of the labour of others...

The question is,.. who are the makers?... and who are the takers?...
:-?...

A fair answer 360 and I apologize for being gruff. My patience is thin these days.

Personally, two parties trying to scratch eyes out IS the optimal platform. Change should be brutal, slow, painful, full blood and tears. Otherwise, fads and false arguments push us to far to one side or the other. I need the awful liberals as much as they need me, the awful conservative.

I’ll restate my question; why couldn’t the dems give on forcing a religious institution that’s been around 10 times longer than this nation in forcing them to pay for birth control and abortion pills, something that’s  abhorrent to their point of view?

I don’t see where the right moved? What did we ‘move right on’?

The left on the other hand, is forcing marriage law changes, forcing government healthcare, forcing the Catholic Church to pay for abortion pills and on and on and on. So, isn’t it more accurate to say the left has moved 10 steps?... Where did the right move?

Good question and here’s the answer. ‘Makers’ make things because of the drive provided by ‘takers’ and not the other way around. It’s far harder and more rare to be a  ‘maker’ than a ‘taker’. There are 30 NFL starting quarterbacks and they make a fortune each. (they also make a fortune for their owners as well as help pay the salary of thousands of others). There are a few more people in the world capable of doing that job, but not many. Remove the takers from the system, punish the takers, malign the takers and it’s the makers who suffer.

Tomorrow I will be at one of the largest beef slaughter-processing plants in the country. 3000 workers, up to 7200 cattle processed per day. I’ve never met the plant manager, but keeping that process flowing is a skill very few people have. If the man makes a million dollars a year, it’s worth it. You couldn’t do his job, I couldn’t do his job, very very few people could. But, he could walk out on the line and do any of those jobs in a short period of time, but that equation doesn’t work the other way. My boss could do my job (he did), but I could not do his job. Maybe someday I will learn what I need to and if I do, I’ll move up and earn more. If time proves out I cannot do what he does, I miss out. I do not think that’s unfair; do you?

I dont have a problem with that, but when some schmuck gets million or even billions & the company fails & he leaves with his golden parachute while everyone whose jobs he destroyed suffers, thats wrong.,
