Title: Replacing headlight, looking for ideas
Post by Chris Roth on 11/10/12 at 23:51:02

I am not going for the cafe racer, but interested in going a little different if beneficial.  I found my headlight is cracked all the way in the back and tends to flash repeatedly when driving for a bit.  Time to replace.

I have seen a few universal 3" LED Headlights on eBay.  Good on power use and bright - but as a rider newbie I haven't driven at night yet and not sure what to expect.  Anyone have experience or recommendations for a replacement headlight?

I tried searching the forum without luck

I recently replaced my headlight and I'm really happy with the results.  Sounds like you want to go smaller if you're looking at 3" lights, here's a link to the recent thread on headlights I started.

And what I did, got mine from Demons cycle. Great quality at a very fair price-

What style do you want?  Techy?  Cruiser/chopper?  Sport Bike?  Streetfighter?  Old school?  Lantern?

Is ease of mounting much of a factor?

How big a factor is power?  There can be a very large diff between spiffy looking lights and lights that make things really bright at night.

Or,..

YOu could pick any style at all and install an HID system that will turn anything from night into day.

Here is the one on my '86.I swiped it from my Harley build.5.75" diameter, billet, bottom mount with 1 bolt.Drill a 3/8ths hole and mount it.The bottom tree is easy to drill. The way it's made underneath, the drill bit about centers itself.

If you want more chopper style, these are 4".I have a guy that makes the mounts.I used my original turnsignal brackets to mount it.Since the charging system aren't great on these bikes,I'll make one low and one high beam.

Old gs series headlights can be adapted to fit.
They come in a couple of sizes, 5.75" same as the savage, 1" bigger, and 2" bigger.
they are side mount, so get the brackets too or get a set of cafe brackets will work.
advantage is they are all metal.

another option is one that was on here not long ago, for a yami xs

Hi Demin, I got to have those double head lights for my Savage. Can you please post more close up pics of the head lights from different angles. Can your mate make another bracket?
