Title: Did I see here.....

An after market, add on trip odometer, or something similar that can help manage fuel?
I looked but found nothing, I thought I saw some GPS type thing that could be cleared, etc, to help my old mind remember where its at. Does an Iphone do that?

I like my Sigma Bike Computer.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003BCG9EK/ref=asc_df_B003BCG9EK2205876?smid=ATVPDKI...

Serves both as the trip-o-meter and as a speedometer.  I have it mounted in the middle of my handle bars.  much easier to see than the speedometer on the tank.  I just fill up every 100 Miles.

Here is a good install tutorial (pictures are broken links but you get the idea)

I used the Trail Tech Vapor Speedo,  it is kind of an all in one gauge package that has speed, tach, (oil, cyl head, or water temp) resettable trip meter, odometer ambient temp and clock.

After I installed mine, I pulled the factory speedo out and now I use the hole in the tank for a cup holder.  I plan on one day using either some sheet abs or taking a mold and using fiberglass and making it more of a finished look for the cup holder though.

Which model do you have for the Trail Tech Vapor Speedo?  I am not familiar with this device but curious to learn more.  Did a quick search on Amazon and saw they had some model specific ones, but did not see a LS650 one.

I got the one that is for conventional forks and air cooled engine.  I don't believe it was a model specific version of it.  I bought it directly from Trail Tech's site.   I also got the Dashboard kit so that I could have the signal, high beam, and neutral indicators all up on the bars as well.

I'll look for the box tomorrow and see if I can get the part number for you.

What he isnt tellin you guys is, he used a grease pencil to put a "150" on the speedo.. Thats why it runs faster.

I tried a grease pencil one.....it kept slipping outta my hand.

Ok, let me ask this question then. Does anybody know where I can get a grease pencil holder that fits an Oh 12 S-40?

I finally found the box for my Trail Tech unit.  Part number is 75-704  That is the one I ordered and for sure works on the Savage.

At least you didn't get all of it!  You have to write the larger size on the main jets in red grease as well as annotate a shift pattern with an additional sixth gear to make use of the power.  Then you can go 150+ easy!   :D

As for a grease pencil holder, you have many options.  I prefer the breast pocket of my favorite riding jacket/vest.  You could also get some of those cheap velcro straps ($5 for a roll of 50 at Lowes) and strap it along a frame rail somewhere out of sight.  It's all in your imagination!!   :D

Many LS650 owners (myself included) have used a simple dollar-store 3-digit luggage lock ... stick or zip-tie to handlebar, brake fluid res or mirror stem and set to last 3 digits of speedo at every fill-up ... easy, cheap and works like a charm!
