Title: Starter Clutch
Post by BelizeanBanman on 10/12/12 at 15:00:26

Haven't been driving for over 2 months because of a bum starter clutch.
-Does anyone here have one of those?
-Can these things be repaired?
-Can I replace just the gear or do I have to buy both?

Finally opened her up today and sure enough the gear behind the flywheel thing is completely loose.

take the rotor off and you'll see 6 bolts.
remove those and the clutch will come apart.

-I think, everyone here has one.  :D
-No, it cannot be repaired
-You have to buy a set of the clutch: The clutch itself with the pinion. Suzuki does not sell one of them separately. If you have a close look at all of the parts of the starter clutch you will realize that they all are worn.

Be happy if the bores for the idler gears are not broken...
