Title: Stripped mixture screw
Post by dmj13 on 10/11/12 at 13:10:03

So, I have this *friend* who can be a real moron sometimes. He was fiddling with the mixture screw on his 2009 S40 and somehow managed to strip out the head of the brass screw. I told him he was using a screwdriver with a blade that was too thin and trying to manhandle that poor, delicate screw was a bad idea. He's going to try an appropriately sized screwdriver, but if that does not work where does he go to get a replacement screw. Searched and found nada. Thanks.

I have one brand new that I don't need.  I bought it to replace my old screw but i couldnt get the old one out.  I have the screw and the Oring.  I paid $15 I think for the parts from the dealership.  Mine is for a 1995.  If you need it I will send it to you in a padded envelope fia US mail for free as long as it is the right size for your bike.

I will post a picture of the screw I have and measure it when I get home.

I'm not sure whats up with my PMs, but I've tried three times and it does not look like they are going through. I'm a little sleep deprived so I'm chalking it up to user error. I looked the part numbers up and I believe they are the same for both years. Prior to 1995 the part number changes so I'm pretty sure they are the same. I don't have the screw in hand, so cannot compare to your pics.
Shoot me an email: dmarckjr@gmail.com and we can work it out.
Thanks much for your help. This is the second time in a week someone on this forum has helped me out directly with parts. This forum rules. ;D

Regarding the PM issue...

SimonTuffGuy figured this one out earlier this year...
"Have you tried "Compatability Mode" on the site? While viewing the website, from the toolbar, click on "Tools", and then "Compatability View". The site will refresh itself and in the URL bar, right hand side, you'll see a torn piece of paper looking icon (3rd from the end) that is now "blueish" colored..."
