Title: Switched Wire Harness NO Power now.
Post by thabrock on 10/05/12 at 18:10:25

Hello guys, gurus and gals.

I have grown weary of searching the forums so I will go ahead and let er rip.

I bought this 97 wrecked savage cheap to make a cafe or street tracker style bike (yes I have seen the Ryca).

The present issue is the bike has no power.

I ditched the cut up original harness for a "new" ebay jobby.  The new harness came complete and the site showed it came from a running bike.

I also ditched the side stand switch ( I need a jumper on that... Ive seen a video on that part).

I tried jumping some of the connections in the key switch but still no power.

The fuse box looks good ( both fuses appear to be intact... love to use these ()()()()()()() if you haven't noticed).

I tried switching out the compression relay or what ever its called (right now its on manual operation anyway).

I do have a few miscellaneous wires hanging with no apparent home.

Any help would be appreciated.

Connect it to the battery.
Is the battery perhaps dead?
Do you have a volt meter? Bring it down to Autozone and they'll test it if not.

Where are they, which colors are the wires?
What is the meaning of "no power". No lights at all? No horn?

+1 to Paraquat-   first make sure the battery is alive.

With LouSiana follow up as to the "few miscellaneous wires hanging with no apparent home"  Make sure the ground is not in this grouping, no proper ground means no complete circuit.
