I read that too.

I also noticed the MSRP increased. I'm sure it will be a while before the Clymer manual gets updated.

It will be interesting to see what the fuel program is like on the FI
and if any of the aftermarket suppliers come out with programs for exhaust and engine changes.
Ignition remapping as well ?  Hmmm

This is GOOD news!!! Not only is our beloved LS stayin' alive, but has been up-graded with EFI too!!!

BTW a good pal of mine works for our local H.D. dealership that also carries Suzuki and as he is also a fan of the Savage/S40 were were discussing the model's future recently and he was optimistic that Suzuki would maintain the LS650 because he said that it has and continues to be one of Suzuki's consistantly better sellers on the North American market!

It would be interesting to correlate MSRP and sales numbers. Kawasaki's 250 Ninja is said to be their best seller. Suzuki's S40 is their lowest priced cruiser. Yamaha has the 250 Star, formerly the 250 Virago. Honda's Rebel has been in the line a long time. All these bikes are about the lowest priced in their respective maker's lines, and all have been around for over twenty years. Think it is a coincidence?

No, definitely not a coincidence IMHO ... when I bought a brandy-new Savage back in 2003, around here they were not too common ... now LS650s are a dime a dozen and on the used market get snapped up quickly ... same with Kawi's Ninja 250 ... all over the place ... and we are a very SMALL market here in Nfld. comparatively speaking ...

I am VERY happy that Suzuki decided to continue and up-grade the LS650!!

You won't likely seem them on the sales floor here. The dealers can't give them away. When I bought mine (Feb 1998) the dealer had 4 96's, 3 97's and 1 '98 (that went home with me). At that time he sold 4 VS800s to every one LS650, 2 1500LCs per VS800, and 5 sport bikes per 1500LC.

I've called every dealership in my area. Not one plans to bring them in, they couldn't sell them with carbs, they don't want them with EFI. One flat out said the 2 they get automatically sent per year would be sent back or left in the crates to rot out in the rear yard. He won't "Junk up his floor with something anybody with half a brain would not give a second glance".

Of course, nobody here wants "baby bikes". Anything smaller than a 900 sits around for a long time. One of the area HD dealers has brand new Sportster 883s in the back room from the pre rubber mount era.

At least when I decide to buy another new new I'll have lots of NOS left overs to choose from. Roads around here are perfect for mid-weight bikes.

Man that is tempting. I will be watching the craigs list next winter. We have a local guy that will remap right on the dyno...

Look at that nice open space behind the jug.

That is not an open space.....it is the shiny front of the chrome battery box.

I thinks the XT250 is a high fender version of the Tricker which was an awesome bike. The XT with a tail rack is rtw ready right out of the box.

Our local dealer said the opposite from what WD's told him when I traded my Savage on my C50 a few years ago. He said they couldn't keep them on the floor, and that he knew he had mine sold before we'd even finished the paperwork. Apparently had a guy that'd told him to give him a call if he ever got a used one in stock.

Between the battery box and the jug. is open space for your after market air cleaner.

Nothing has changed......The same carb, battery box, etc. is all in place.  There is no more room on the 2013 than on any other Savage.  The only open space is below the float bowl of the carb.

The official 2013 Suzuki website states the fuel system is...

"MIKUNI BS40, single"

Besides, the carb ain't broken.   If they are going to make improvements, they should address the things that are, like the cam chain and associated apparatus.

I had to take a double look myself,  I think what your seeing is the reflection of the corner of the carb bowl.
