Hello everybody, I ha e just joined this forum and would appreciate any tips on s40 engines weak points and such I am a long time thumper and recently sold off all of my SR 500 yamaha's and purchased a 1986 savage 650 that needs. Bit of work runs ok with 14,000 miles on it so any input would be great as I am new to this engine

Welcome to the group Bradford. There's plenty of information here(and a fair amount of BS and poppycock too!) Start out with the link Versy posted above....it's the best primer a new Savage owner can read!
