Title: Best Exhaust For Lancer Big Bore Kit
Post by NicholasTanguma on 09/23/12 at 22:17:17

It seems to me the stock header will be way too restrictive for Lancer's big bore, stage 2 cam, and flatslide Mikuni, even using a free flowing muffler.  As far as I know the only larger bolt-on offering is the Raask drag pipe.

But am I wrong?  What's the best exhaust for a big bore kit?  Do I have to go custom fabricated, perhaps?

I'd use the same Harley shorty that the rest of us use...

If you're looking for max. HP,... then go to a more open pipe,.. but you'll quickly loose torque-band and end up with a finicky throttle'd bike...

The Harley shorty will take full advantage of the extra cubes, and still retain a comfortable torque-band for street riding...

I do believe he's asking about a bigger diameter Header pipe, not muffler.

In this case I would have to refer to a post Lancer did saying that with the big bore/high compression kit and larger cam he was saying a 1.5" ID to a 1.6" ID header.

As far as bolt on headers raask is the only one I've seen.

If you're looking for more flow, I'd start with porting the exhaust.
